Today, I was working as a cashier at a restaurant. When I receive $50 and $100 bills I am required to have a manager check to make sure they are not counterfeit. Every manager I found yelled at me to find another manager because they were busy. Frustrated, I just accepted the bill. It was fake. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Rules are rules
Today, at work, a man bought a lot of really expensive stuff. He paid the large bill with cash, and the manager helped me count the money. When we were done, he handed me a $100 bill to thank me for all the help. We can't accept tips. The manager was next to me. I had to say no. FML
Easy mark
Today, a man came up to me and asked for a $50 bill in change. Being a good man, I said sure. I gave him the change and he gave me the $50 bill. After walking into Starbucks to buy a coffee, I handed the cashier my $50 bill. She called the cops. It was counterfeit. FML
Grifting
Today, my boss bitched me out for accepting a fake £100 note. It was a genuine note, but he couldn't believed someone would actually use such a note at a KFC. When I protested, he took it further and deducted the “lost profits” from my pay. The man is an asshole. FML
Today, after weeks of allowing my parents to borrow money, I got a check for $2000. I took it to the bank only to find out it was fake. FML
Goodbye Bill
Today, I went to a restaurant to order food with just a $100 bill. They no longer had what I came for, so I left. When I got to my car, I realized - no bill. I went back in for them to say they hadn't seen it, and they wouldn’t check the cameras. I know the lady working there picked it up since I was the only customer. FML
Today, a customer handed me a 100 dollar bill. He then told me that it was my tip for doing a good job. He snatched it away just as I touched it, laughed, and said, "Just kidding." He then took his money and left the store. FML
Today, I learned the hard way not to keep my own cash in my pocket while working as a cashier, when I was forced to give $30 to a scamming customer. FML
Today, I was waitering at the restaurant that I work at when I collected a credit card bill that was worth $120 and a big zero on the tip line. Angered, I turned to a co-worker and said "I knew this asshole wasn't going to tip me." The guy was standing right behind me with $30 in his hand. FML
The customer is always right
Today, my boss is beginning to hate me. Why? Because people keep coming to my register with one or two dollars worth of stuff, then paying for it with hundred dollar bills, ignoring the sign saying not to do that. I’ve had to ask him to refill my till after every transaction. FML
Assumptions
Today, I went to the bank to deposit the cash I made waiting tables. While the teller was counting, I apologized for having so many small bills. She said "It's OK honey, I helped another one of your kind just the other day. You're lucky we take your dirty money." She thought I was a stripper. FML

That is your managers' faults for not paying attention to you. I hope you didn't get in trouble because of them.

I bet the person that gave you the money was pretty nervous too, in hopes that they wouldn't get caught. FYL.

what kind of ghetto ass store do you work at? every store has a pen that you mark large bills with to see if they are counterfit. and how do you know it was fake, if nobody checked for you? how did you get a job? you are clearly a stupid pile of poo.

If you couldn't tell it was fake, you are a dumbass. You should not be a cashier.

Bank tellers get tricked all the time. the kittens don't work on any decent counterfeit bills

I'm surprised that your store doesn't have detection pens, the black lights, or even teaches you the common sense to look for the water marks. - Another hint is fake bills are completely smooth, whereas real ones feel a little rough - the way leather does. However, if it is store policy that a manager has to check the bill, and none are available to check said bill, YOU DO NOT ACCEPT IT. Your luck, it was probably someone from corporate checking to make sure cashiers know their jobs, and you just failed.

they REALLY should just train staff to check that. i'd tell you how to check but my money is different from yours. it takes like... 3 seconds. at least you can't be on the hook for that.
