Today, I was flying back home from college with my Mom. At the airport, the ticket agent tells us she only has one ticket listed for Margaret. My mom and I have the same name. American Airlines thought a Margaret had bought two tickets by mistake, so they cancelled one of the transactions. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was forced to spend an extra $318 for another plane ticket to Dallas. The ticket wasn't for my daughter, my mom, or my sister, but for the quarter of my butt that apparently needs its own seat. FML
Today, when I arrived at the airport for my international flight there was no record of my ticket in the system. Turns out the flight was yesterday. FML
Today, I found out that my mother in-law's flight home is canceled, and that she's staying three more days. FML
Today, I was flying home to Milwaukee after a weekend in South Carolina. When I got to the airport, my reservation didn't match up with any flights. Turns out Expedia booked me on a flight that doen't exist. I spent ten hours waiting in the airport for a two hour flight. FML
Gated and confused
Today, I checked in for my flight, made it through TSA, bought food, and sat at the gate for an hour. I only realized I was sitting at the wrong gate when boarding for another flight finished and everyone had left. I ran to the correct gate, but it was too late. Despite me pleading, the plane was already taxiing to the runway. FML
Today, I was the only passenger on a completely booked flight to have all their luggage left behind in another country. FML
Today, my mother offered to pay for my tickets to go see my girlfriend who I haven't seen for 6 months. She was happy to pay for the £130 flight, but then refused half way through the purchase because she wasn't going to "let the buggers charge £13 extra" for using her credit card. FML
Today, I got an expensive return bus ticket to visit my family 200 miles away. I accidentally tore the ticket when taking it from the machine, but the driver said not to worry, as it would still be accepted on the way back. Guess who's still 200 miles from home. FML
Fly me to the moon
Today, I booked a long distance flight across two continents, costing me over 600 bucks. I then got a confirmation email. For a different flight. I wrote to their customer service address, saying there has been an error, and to please either change or cancel the booking. I never got any reply. At all. FML
Wait and see
Today, I was on a flight home. I wasn't going to arrive until midnight, so I was offered an earlier flight that got back at ten. I got to baggage claims and it turned out they lost my bag. I sat there for 2 hours. The people on my original flight left for home before I did. FML

Why wouldn't they like call you or something and ask if it's a mistake instead of just cancelling your tickets? I know plenty of people that have the same names, especially if they're related.

Can they do that?

OMFG! why are you going on about her name?? For all you know, it's a family name that was passed down or something. Maybe it was started by her Great Great Great Grandmother or something. We don't know. It's prolly just a legacy name. Get over it ppl!

#26 is right, airlines can be such a pain. I know they were trying to do someone a favour and keep them from accidentally buying two tickets, but before canceling a transaction they should have called to confirm =/ And uh, I know the naming the kid after the parent thing is more common with boys than girls, but seriously? People are making a big deal about it? What is wrong with you folks?

A similar thing happened to me a while ago. My mother, my brother and one of my cousins all have the same last name and first initial M. Some ditz at the airline cancelled two of the tickets, assuming they were erroneous repeat entries. It'd be understandable if it wasn't a family reunion - there were about 40 of us traveling together, all with the same surname. We wound up being stranded in New Zealand for three days before they could rebook us on a flight onwards to our final destination with the rest of the family.

This is the part where you start yelling and demanding crazy things like upgrades to first class, full refunds, or vouchers for a free flight.

Yeah this is probably the first true-sounding and valid FML I've seen in a long time. I can't believe people are calling fake on it. Is it hard to believe that an Airline trying to sell tickets would see a person has bought two, realize that the person will just ask for a refund when she finds out, and thus have taken up a seat that could have been another who-knows-how-much dollars the airline made if they had sold it to someone else? Even if it's fake, at least it's original and not somebody getting rejected by a hot guy/girl in an insulting and unbelievable way.

Of all the names in the world, why choose the same one? You're just asking for problems like this...
