Today, I spent well over an hour waiting for customer service to assist me with my forgotten password, only to realize, 5 minutes into the conversation, that I had never created an account in the first place. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Computer says no
Today, I was trying to be a responsible adult and check my credit score. I accidentally mistyped my password five times, got locked out, and had to call customer service. They asked me so many security questions, I started questioning my own identity (and sanity). FML
Memory hole
Today, I spent an hour trying to log into my work email. I apparently kept typing the wrong password and eventually got locked out for 24 hours. My boss texted me five minutes later asking why I wasn’t responding to his emails. FML
EVERYTHING COMPUTER
Today, I spent several minutes trying to log into my email, only to realize I was typing my work password instead of my personal one. After three failed attempts, my account locked me out for 24 hours. Now I can’t check my emails or reset the password because they need me to check my email. FML
Slacking or what?
Today, I spent 15 minutes trying to log into my email at work. Frustrated, I reset my password. As soon as I finished, IT called to remind me that the reason I couldn’t log in was because I was typing my Netflix password the entire time. FML
Confused
Today, I tried signing into one of my many food apps. After three hours, forty five minutes, and several emails with tech support, I realized that I had mixed up the emails I use for my Amazon and food accounts. FML
The tooth is…
Today, after spending almost an hour in the dentist's waiting room, watching other people get called in for their appointments, I finally lost my patience and asked the receptionist what was taking so long. I'd forgotten to sign in. FML
Today, I realized that 6 months ago I signed up for a 3 day trial for a porn website that turns into a $30 membership after 3 days. I completely forgot the day after and never viewed it. I've spent $180 so far. And I can't remember my password. FML
Today, my cell phone broke. It wouldn't even turn on. I went online to access my account so that I could order a new phone. I couldn't remember my password. The phone company had an option of "forgot my password". Upon clicking I get a message saying "Your password will be sent to your phone". FML
This ain't it chief
Today, I was logging into my work computer. My account became locked due to the many failed attempts at typing my password. Thinking I was alone, I said, “Fuck this shit” while dragging the keyboard off my desk. Turns out my supervisor was in the other room. I'd forgotten I'd changed my password the other day. FML
Close call
Today, I started going over my accounts to change passwords after a massive network breach from Google and Facebook. Obviously my online bank account was going to be my first stop. I then realized that this whole time my online account had 2-factor authentication and I never turned it on. I don't know how my account was never hacked. FML

Atleast you acknowledged your mistake. Others will be quick to blame customer service.

Life is always wasted when you are on the phone listening to that awful staticy (I know, not a real word) music that they always play.

How does that even happen

That's when they assist you with account creation. If they're in customer service, they have unfortunately seen worse.

They work dealing with people. This was probably one of the easier cases they had all week. (And certainly an easier one to laugh about with coworkers.)

Welp... Just gonna be honest here. This is one of the dumbest things I have heard in a fair amount of time

So true! Why waste an hour pretending for sake of you thinking someone else might think you're dumb, when you could've just said, "sorry my mistake, I actually just remembered I hadn't created an account yet!" I don't understand why that freaks out people so much. It's not a big deal.

Trust me, that has happened to me too, although I wasn't compelled to called customer service. And even though you could've cured cancer with those five minutes you wasted, I wouldn't worry about it.

I too have tried to remember a password I had for an account only to realize I hadn't created one yet (although I've never called customer service about it). If you're like most people that are on the Internet a lot than you probably have many accounts with different websites and stores and it's hard to keep track of which ones you have. My advice is to write a note in your phone, or computer, of all your accounts with each password, you can use some signs (like *) to block out some letters if you're worried about someone reading it, or just label it under a weird name for a note so no one will open it.

Or use lastpass or something similar. Forgetting you even made an account is easily checkable on most sites though. Forgot password link, use your email address and 99% of the time it will tell you if that address is on the system.
