Today, I spent an hour and a half trying to rid my house of smoke and burnt plastic smell because my little sister didn't know she was supposed to add water in the package of microwaveable mac and cheese. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Damned freshmen
Today, a freshman set off the fire alarm in my dorm at 2 a.m. He tried to microwave Easy Mac without adding water. I had to stand outside for 45 minutes while the firemen moved the noodles to the sink and ran cold water over them. FML
Doofus
Today, I tried to make popcorn in the microwave but forgot to remove the plastic wrapper. The kitchen filled with smoke, the fire alarm went off and my neighbors came knocking to see if I was alright. When they asked what caused it, I had to admit that it was “Erm… popcorn.” FML
Today, I left my daughter with a babysitter for the first time. When I came home, my microwave was ruined because they had attempted to heat cans of Play-Doh as a science experiment. FML
What's that smell?
Today, my apartment smelled like something was burning, so I checked the oven, toaster, outlets, and even the hallway. After an hour, I discovered the smell was coming from the candle I had forgotten I'd lit in the bathroom. I had spent an hour investigating a fire that wasn't happening. FML
Pizza is pizza
Today, I tried to reheat some leftover pizza in the microwave but forgot to take the plastic wrap off. The microwave filled with smoke, and the plastic melted onto the pizza. I ate burnt plastic-flavored pizza for lunch, because pizza is pizza and I couldn't bring myself to through it away. FML
BURNED
Today, I reheated leftover pasta at work. I forgot to crack a vent on the container and it exploded in the microwave. Sauce coated the inside, so I spent my lunch break scrubbing while coworkers waited awkwardly to heat their food. The smell is still hanging in the office air. FML
Today, I accidentally washed an entire box of macaroni and cheese with a load of laundry. I'm 25 and do not have kids. FML
Today, my dad used the stove to boil water. Unfortunately, he turned the wrong burner on, setting the smoke alarm off. What's worse was the smell of burning plastic that came from the coffeemaker being melted down. It's been over an hour, and my eyes still burn like hell when I walk into the kitchen. FML
Preppers, man
Today, I attempted meal prepping to “get my life together.” Within an hour I'd burned rice, melted a plastic spatula, and discovered I’d seasoned chicken with powdered sugar instead of salt. My smoke alarm and my stomach filed complaints. FML
Not so tech savvy
Today, in Home Ec, I struggled to open the microwave for almost 10 minutes in front of the whole class. FML

Lol I did that last year at my boyfriend's house but it was a ramen noodle cup soup. Oh so embarrassing :)

YDI. If she's obviously not old enough to know that, you should be supervising her making it. Thus taking control when you see she hasn't followed the instructions.

no, little sister could mean op is 20 and sister is 16. think people!!! DOH. DOY!!!!!
PrincessesCrown 17
Its the parents fault not OPs it's not an older sisters job to always be watching her little sis!

my sister is 10 and he's done that 4 or 5 times she just forgets

wow you def need to keep an eye on her. not saying it's your fault but definitley pay attention while she is cooking and whatnot.

She said it was her little sister, not her child; it's not really her job to supervise her. It sounds like she might have been asleep or busy when it happened, and her little sister just decided to try and cook when no one was paying attention. Her parents should have been around...

My brother did that once with a Ramen Cup. He almost burned the house down, and it smelled funny for about a week. Sorry, I know how you feel. ^_~

my little brother did the same exact thing... Here's a tip: use non acetone nail polish to clean the yellow layer of burnt crap off of the inside of the microwave
