Today, I learned that my boss is training one the the trainees I trained to be supervisor. Everyone supports this, including me. So what's the issue? I was promised that position almost 2 years ago. Apparently, I train people well enough to promote, but I'm not good enough to be promoted myself. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Leadership qualities
Today, I learned that although I’m apparently not qualified to be a department supervisor, I’m entirely qualified to train the person who got the promotion over me, who has never worked in my department before. Boy, do I feel appreciated. FML
Today, I worked a long shift at my job while feeling like crap, anticipating getting a promotion. As my boss was leaving work, he informed me that because I also go to college, the promotion was being given to another employee that I trained a month ago. This is the second time this has happened. FML
Today, I found out that a co-worker of mine that I had originally hired, trained, and mentored to work in my department for the past 4 years had just got the promotion that I had applied for. He is now my boss. FML
Too good
Today, I found out that the reason I didn't get the job that I have been working my butt off for over a year for is because they can't find anybody who can do my current job as good as me. I'm too good to be promoted. FML
Acting up
Today, I was passed over for a promotion for a role that I was acting in for a year because I'm not "qualified" for it. But I have to train the person who got the role on how to do the role that I am "not qualified for." The fuck? FML
Trading places
Today, my girlfriend who trained me at the job we both work at received a promotion, which left a spot for advancement. I was chosen for the position, and now the guy she's been cheating on me with is training me. Congrats. FML
Today, after putting in 110% at my shitty job for two years straight, my boss told me point-blank I'm too good in my current position for him to ever be able to justify promoting me. FML
Today, I found out that a co-worker has been promoted to Store Manager. She has been here for less than 6 months, and I have been with the company for 10 years. Guess who has been training her for the last 6 months. FML
Today, after working at the same place for 3 years, I found out that they are not only cutting my hours but now I have to take orders from some girl I trained because she was promoted over me. FML
The Dilbert Principle
Today, my boss called me into his office. I've been working hard doing extra work so I can get promoted. He called me in to tell me I'm to reliable in my current position, so I won't be moving up. FML

Perhaps try sending a tactful message. I remember once having a friend in a similar situation, and after a lot of discussion, we went and set their office on fire. Burned the whole building down before heading off on a murder spree. As the weeks went by, the body count skyrocketed, and eventually my friend found something they valued more than a job: self esteem.

Maybe you should talk to your supervisor and see what needs to be done for you to get a promotion...

Maybe they're just intimidated by how good you are and if they gave you the position you'd be so good that you'd make everyone else look bad! Best of luck OP, I'm sure you'll get your chance eventually!

so stand up for yourself. say hey, I was promised a promotion, why have I not gotten it? standing silent never solved anything.

Oh yeah, in retrospect, I think all of that discussion was a bit much.

Have you ever mentioned or brought this up?

Maybe wait a bit and ask about it?

Went through this with SIX of my trainees before I was finally promoted to the lead spot. It's a shitty feeling in the meantime but hopefully you can get promoted soon!

Maybe you should start looking away from management and start to enter the hr department. Specialize in training... that is a corporate position mind you.

Maybe you ought to try to become the Head of Training?

If you were promised this position two years ago, why is this an issue just now and not a year ago? Also, before you start training somebody for a position you deserve, shouldn't you question why you are doing it?
