Today, I have severe back pain that is only relieved by lying flat on my bed. I also have acid reflux that is only prevented by sitting straight up. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Knackered
Today, I'm fit, but so exhausted from work that I hardly managed to even climb the stairs. Yet, as soon as I sit on the couch for longer than half an hour, my butt starts hurting. So I guess it’s either reading a book lying on my stomach, which makes my back hurt, or hanging upside down from the ceiling like a bat. FML
Do not disturb
Today, I have such chronic back pain that I can usually never get comfortable, but I found the perfect position to lie in bed, and was nearly 100% pain free. I felt so good. Someone knocked on the door, so I had to answer it. They'd got the wrong house number. I couldn’t find that perfect position again. FML
Pain in the ass
Today, I awoke to an excruciating pain in my back from sleeping in the same position all night. I can't wipe my own ass. I've already gone to shit twice. FML
Today, I ended up in the hospital due to a severe acid reflux attack. I knew I had acid reflux for years, but was never allowed to get it checked out. Why? My dad told me I was too young to have it and that I was making it up. I now have to see a specialist. FML
Not this again
Today, I woke up with my back super sore. I couldn’t get out of my bed without crying and great difficulty. The last time my chronic pain was like this it went on for three months and I could barely move. It was absolutely awful. FML
Today, I was suffering from acid reflux. I was told that drinking water laced with baking soda would help. Nope, all it did was create a huge belch that made me vomit all over myself. FML
I don't like to move it, move it
Today, I realized just how sedentary both my work and home lives are after I went to the doctor with a rash on my butt and he diagnosed it as bedsores from near constant sitting. FML
Today, I sneezed so hard that I threw my back out. Now my back is in agonizing pain, and I can barely walk. FML
Take the W
Today, I got back from a holiday. I've been suffering from debilitating muscle spasms in my back for over a year, causing migraines and immobility. After all the physical therapy, drugs, and tests, it seems it was caused simply by my mattress. A week of sleeping in the hotel bed completely alleviated it. FML
Mother of the year
Today, I'm sitting in agonizing pain following a scoliosis surgery. I have a bunch of painkillers that I need to suppress the incredible back pain, but looks like I can't take any, because my mom has hidden them from me because she thinks I need to be taken off them. I wish my doctor was here. FML

Sit up at an angle to partially relieve both! It's bound to work!

Don't they make medicine for stuff like that?

Yep, take a couple tums and and a pain killer!

Some people do not like taking pain killers, due to the high risk of addiction. I refused to take narcotics, due to a large amount of friends and relatives, who have become severely addicted after sustaining injuries. OP could have a history of addiction, or share those personal views on narcotics.

Pain killers. Not even once.

I have acid reflux. Sometimes the medicines don't help fully. Or they may not be able to afford the meds they need for it, sometimes they get pretty pricey

I have severe back pain. the only medication that helps a bit has HUGE side effects. when you compare the side effects and how much (or how little ) it helps it's just not worth taking the risk.

She can take the tums and lay down to fix the headache.. No "addition" will happen. Problem solved.

By painkillers, they mean Advil or Tylenol which do not pose a high risk for dependency.

OP can take pantroprazol (probably spelt wrong) or somac (brand name) for the reflux! Pain is way harder to manage than reflux (I find).

60, how do you know that what they meant? Anyways I have to take narcotics for my pain (Fentynal) luckily I haven't become addicted to it.

Sometimes medications don't workfor severe acid reflux. I have it, and have taken many different medications for it, and none of them help. I'm sorry OP!

it's entirely possible that they're like my boyfriend and medicines doesn't actually have any effect on them.

This actually sounds really effective, but slightly painful.

You could put pillows under your mattress so it is raised at an angle so you are laying flat but also sitting up.

What a vicious combo. Try tying yourself to a flat board and putting it at an upward angle?

Time to find a happy medium OP. Hope you feel better soon.

I wonder if the OP has a lazy-boy recliner.

Call a doctor rather than going on FML.com, they can give you painkillers and something to combat the acid reflux.

not ever one can pay for them.

Best advice I've seen on FML yet.

78. Sorry, being from a country with free healthcare, i forget sometimes that this can happen. Also i'm on my phone so i can't see where OP is from :-P why do Americans not want free healthcare again?
Charity Taylor 17
cause it takes us up to a 20 min wait for our appointments and we get treated quicker and easier as opposed to waiting forever constantly for any time we need a doctor.

Prilosec OTC and Advil. You're welcome.

**** gravity, go to space. Costly, but effective.

Shoulda had a V8

Well at least you don't have unpredictable and explosive bowel movements to go along with those things. Though what you have is still quite unfortunate of a combination.
