Today, I had a date with a guy. We ran into our gay friend at the theater, who insisted on coming along. My date was pissed, but I couldn't turn our friend away. Afterwards, my date texted our friend, mad because he crashed the date. Turns out he isn't gay. And only crashed it because he likes me. FML

Today, I went on a date with a guy that I really like. At the last minute he informed me a friend would be tagging along. To keep his friend from being a third-wheel, I kept up a conversation, and managed to piss my date off. He thought I would be a better match for his friend. FML
Today, my good buddy of about two years set me up on a blind date. I got to the meeting point and realized that my date was a guy. My "buddy" honestly thought I was gay. FML
Today, my friend told me that she gave my number to a guy I've liked for a while. I asked why and she just said "He's just going to have to tell you himself." I got hopeful and really nervous. A few hours later he calls. Turns out, he's called to try and get a date with my gay friend. FML
Today, I went on the best date I've been on in years. Later on, over drinks we get talking and I explain how I came out to my friends and family. When I ask him how he came out, he replies that he isn't gay, and oh, did I think this was a date? FML
Today, I was supposed to go on a date with a guy I really like. My friends convinced me that he was going to stand me up and that I should just stay home to avoid being hurt. He showed up; I didn't. My friends laughed at my gullible nature. FML
Today, I went on a Grindr date with a really cute guy. I thought things went really well. When he dropped me off at home, he told me not to text him anymore because his wife might get mad. FML
Today, my girlfriend slapped me and dumped me because she thought I was gay, simply because I had to miss a date because one of my guy friends was in a car accident, and I went to see him at the hospital. FML
Today, I finally got the courage to ask my best friend to go on a date with me. She assumed I meant a double date and squealed, "Who's the lucky guy?!" She thought I was her gay best friend for the past year. FML
Today, I went to a party where I met an amazing guy. After having great conversation all night and what I thought was a serious connection, I leaned in to kiss him. He screamed, forcefully pushed my face away with his hand, and said he was gay. FML
Today, I was set up on a blind date. When I arrived, the person waiting for me was a woman. It appears that my friends have always thought I was a lesbian, and that they 'played along' when I talked about guys. FML

If you were on a date, then you should have told your friend that it was nice to see him, but you'd have to hang out with him at another time. It was rude of you to invite someone else along.

Wait a minute...your friend is gay...but apparently likes you...and apparently not gay...and apparently likes you enough to sabotage a date with someone else? These are kinda important things that should, scratch that, need to be picked up on.

He's not gay. OP assumed he was and then later realized that not only isn't the friend gay, but he has a thing for OP. Crashing a date is NOT a good way to let someone know you like them, though. Someone should tell her rude buddy that.

I'm no one to judge the situation as I have till just recently been completely oblivious to the fact that guy friends, are in a lot of cases and unless you know each other forever, actually into you, or at least hoping for something more than just friendship. On the other hand, your gay or not so gay friend, was really rude after you told him you were on a date to insist on tagging along. I understand your date for being disappointed or mad about the fact that you think it's alright when your friends (gay or not) don't respect your privacy and disrespected him by barging in on your date!

I think you're all forgetting/missing a few things here: 1) OP said both her AND her date knew the guy who tagged along 2) by reading the reaction "turns out he's not gay" implies (to me at least) that her date didn't know the guy was straight either 3) there are kind hearted people in this world who can be manipulated with a few key phrases ex; "But I haven't seen you in forever!" "I thought we were friends!" There's obviously more to this story, this is just what I gather from the post.

Yeah, you should probably be dumped for being a butthole. If that were me, Depending on how the relationship was, I'd dump you for the rudeness, and lacking a spine. And now that I think about it, shame on your boyfriend for not saying anything either. And for future reference, you can be a nice, great person/friend AND not let people walk all over you.

You can't tell your friend not to come on your date? That just shows that in the future you may let your friend crash any date night, can't really get to know each other and ask a lot of questions with a friend sitting right there. and poor you, two people like you, must be super hard to be you.
