Today, my dad drove me to work which is an hour away. Twenty minutes into the job, I was told, "Didn't we tell you last week? We let you go." Clearly, no, they didn't. I had to wait one awkward hour, with my colleagues who knew I was fired before I did, for my dad to collect me. FML

Today, my company hired a new guy to help on our project. My boss said that he would shadow me for the whole day so he could learn our system. At the end of the day my boss fired me, handed my company car keys and laptop to my "shadow for the day" right in front of me. My Mom picked me up. FML

Charge him the standard cab fare: $2.50 for the first 1/5 of a mile, and $0.40 for every 1/5 of a mile thereafter. There is an additional $0.40 charge per minute stopped or in slow traffic. If he complains, kindly explain that you recently lost your job and have to make a living somehow. However, you would be willing to offer a 25% discount since he's family and you're feeling generous. You should also let him know that tips are welcome.

Not much to work with here. Assuming you also live at home besides formerly working for dad, I'd say you better give him a ride before you end up homeless also. It is never a good feeling to take someone's job away but it is a total stress relief to bounce a bum to the curb. If you live on your own ****'em let him walk.

You might deserve it. If your father fired you, you probably did something pretty bad. "People are being let go all over the place through no fault of their own..." His father fired him. For the most part, parents are fairly compassionate and let things slide for their kids, and try to help them out. Chances are, he probably did something bad enough to get fired. "You were fired because your father wants you to drive him to work?" No, he was fired by his father... but his father still wants him to take him to work (the OP's now-former job).
