Today, I got an e-mail regarding an IT support job I applied to. The e-mail had numerous formatting errors due to bad code, and typos all over the place. It said I wasn't qualified for the job. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
At least they're reading them…
Today, I spent ages writing a draft press release as part of a copywriting job application. I worked really hard and read it through several times before submitting. They emailed me to point out that I'd misspelled the name of the company. Twice. FML
Today, I finished doing a resume that I had spent three hours on. I e-mailed it to the business I was applying for, satisfied. I decided to look it over. The first thing I notice, I spelt my own name wrong. FML
Bye bye
Today, I found out that I was being laid off via an email that wasn't even spell checked. FML
Today, my boss sent me some application forms to check over. After I spell-checked them and returned them, I found out they're going to be used to hire someone to replace me. FML
Today, I realized I had misspelled "Education" on all the resumes I've been submitting. FML
Today, I applied online for a position and typed, "OH&S Certificate." It autocorrected to, "OH&SHIT Certificate." I didn't notice until the site e-mailed me a copy of my completed application. They'd already received it. FML
Today, I e-mailed an employer to ask about a job I had applied for earlier. The employer in question was on vacation. The person who replied had the position which I had applied for mentioned in their signature. FML
Great quality control
Today, I got a job! When they sent me the offer letter, I sent it back ASAP after being satisfied with the salary and benefits. My problem? I wrote that I'd accepted the wrong position (in the interview it went by different names) The irony? I'm supposed to be in QC, ie., I'm supposed to have a keen eye for errors. FML
Today, I received a series of rejection letters from jobs, one after the other. Last night, I stayed up into the wee morning hours to apply to campus jobs I'm not qualified for, because I was classified as a part-time student due to an administrative error. FML
Attention to detail
Today, I wrote an email for a job offer. I checked it, double-checked it, triple-checked it, and then sent it. It's only THEN that I realised my CV wasn't attached. FML

I see this all the time. Unfortunately, depending on the company, the IT Support team doesn't do HTML email campaigns or other web development. There exists a separate team which handled that; either dedicated web development or pseudo-marketing setup.

If you're IT, you have to figure it out. That's what you do. It was a test.

Then its probably better for your sanity that you dont have to work with them.

Why would they send an email in code telling you that? wouldnt the hiring manager just send you a regular email? Sorry you didn't get the job, but I'm sure better opportunities are out there waiting for you!

Any email that shows more than plain text, e.g. bolded text or a specific font, contains markup code in a language like HTML. The code itself will be hidden if it's correct. HTML is easy to write, but badly standardized, so it may come out wrong if you don't test it properly.

I am actually a Web developer and have experience working with email marketing. just thought it was odd that a simple rejection letter would have a lot of code. thanks!
