Today, I e-mailed an employer to ask about a job I had applied for earlier. The employer in question was on vacation. The person who replied had the position which I had applied for mentioned in their signature. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Thanks mom
Today, I checked my inbox and realized I got an email from a potential employer, saying they were having trouble getting a hold of me by phone. They called while my mom was using my phone to look up directions to a place, and she answered, kindly hanging up when they asked for me. FML
Today, after waiting 3 months to see if I got the job I had applied for, I was told that they never received my application. Turns out that the email address that they told me to send it to was not being checked anymore and that they would be happy to consider me for the following year. FML
Busted
Today, I have been waiting for a call from a job I applied for. I soon got a text from my current boss, who doesn't know I'm job hunting, letting me know that the recruiter was trying to reach me. It turns out that the phone number on my resumé was wrong. FML
Today, my boss tested a candidate for my current position while I was out of the office. How did I find out? I work in HR and the test results were sent to my email. The reason I was out was to have emergency surgery. Now I get to recover and job search at the same time. FML
Today, while despairing over having been rejected for my dream job, I received an email asking me to come back in for another interview. Then they called me to say they accidentally sent the email to all the applicants, and that they definitely aren't interested. FML
Today, I emailed my fiancé the assignment that I was handed for a journalism job interview, asking for him to take a look and give opinions about it. I accidentally e-mailed it to the job interviewer. She responded, and even CCed it to the CEO. FML
The mainframe had been haxored
Today, I found out my email hasn't been working for 10 days. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, but it just so happens that a position opened up for my dream job while this was happening. I would have gotten the job, but instead they gave it to someone I just finished training. FML
Canceled
Today, I got a call from the only company that asked me to come in for an interview of the many applications I submitted. I answered it even though I was at my current job. My boss heard and chewed me out. The call was to cancel the interview since the position was filled. FML
Today, after being jobless for 2 years, I got a call back for an interview. I was ecstatic until I saw the date. It's the same day I leave for a weeklong, nonrefundable vacation. I applied for the job 6 weeks ago, and since not hearing anything bought the vacation 2 weeks ago. FML
Ouroboros
Today, I applied for my job, while working at my job. I hope they hire me. FML

That's awkward, OP, but if they're hiring there's a reason. Maybe that person is leaving and they need a replacement. Dont assume the worst

Don't jump to conclusions easily, maybe he's just a temporary replacement. If not, then FYL since they didn't tell you.

1. Sneak into her office 2. Write a filthy, hateful email to the employer 3. See her get fired 4. Ask if the job is still available 5. ????? 6. Profit

Alright devil, calm down.

Yeah, if that person somehow didn't know that a replacement was being hired, that is 100% the company's problem and not yours. (It may also be that they want more than one person in the role, so this may be someone you'll be working with quite closely)

maybe the person is leaving the firm, or that person needs a coworker..think positive OP, good luck.(a follow up would be nice if it worked out)

Think of it this way, OP...If an employer shows that level of consideration to applicants, he's probably not treating his employees any better. Things work out the way they do for a reason. You'll find a place that suits you better.

I don't think that you got the job. Or maybe that person didn't know they were getting replaced?

still follow-up... they could be filling two positions with the same title and job function but reporting to different managers/supervisors. happened to me literally a month ago so I was glad I contacted them and still had the job

Eh, not a big deal. They were probably just leaving the position and need a replacement.

It could be that person may not know they are soon leaving. I suppose the know now, not your fault, don't worry about it. If you get the job, do it to the best of your ability.
