Today, I got 20% tints on my car. As I'm driving home, a cop pulls me over. I didn't want to ruin my new tint by opening my window, so I opened my door as the cop approached. He then pulled out his gun and yelled "GET ON THE FUCKING GROUND!" before I could explain. FML

Today, I got pulled over by a cop. Since my window wasn't working, I opened the door, causing him to run towards me with a drawn gun. He then had a go at me with his night stick. After realizing my window was broken, he laughed and let me off with a warning. FML
Today, I got pulled over heading home from college. My car was full of my stuff from moving out, and I couldn't reach the glove box. I told the cop this, and asked if he wanted me to go around to the passenger side to get my paperwork. He agreed. When I got out of the car, he pepper sprayed me. FML
Today, I went to the police station to find out if the tint on my new car's windshield was too dark. The officer took one look, told me that windshield tints are illegal in California, and ticketed me. So much for being honest. FML
Today, I was pulled over by a cop. He asked for my license and registration, so I reached for my center console. I was then greeted with a gun to my ear because my coffee cup supposedly looked like a gun. I stepped out of my car to apologize, and I was hit with a big stick. FML
Today, I got pulled over for speeding. I started fixing my hair and unbuttoning a couple of buttons on my shirt, hoping the policeman would let me off with a warning. When he got to the car, he rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath. I saw him walk back to the cop car gagging. FML
Today, my friend was pulled over and told to get out of the car. The officer motioned for me to get out of the car too so I reached behind me to get my shoes. He then pointed his gun at my face and frantically asked my friend if I had a gun. My friend calmly replied, "No, but shoot him anyway." FML
Today, I pulled up to a red light. My ex was in the next car, and my car's windows are so tinted that you can't see through them, so I flipped him off. I was driving my mom's car. FML
Today, I was pulled over by a motorcycle cop for speeding in a 25 MPH zone. As the cop was walking towards my car, I flicked my cigarette butt out of my window. So, the cop did me the pleasure of writing me two tickets instead of one. FML
Today, I was driving home. I desperately needed the bathroom, so I was speeding a little bit. A cop pulled me over and gave me hell. He said he'd heard my story a hundred times and didn't believe me. I couldn't hold it and ended up marinating in my own piss while he ran my plates. FML
Today, while driving I saw a police car riding along next to me. Thinking about the news recently, I decided to give him a quick thumbs up and a smile to lighten up his day. He looks back, smiles, flips on his siren, and pulls me over for not paying attention to the road. FML

Whoever said YDI: You're all imbeciles and need to learn to read. The OP never said he stepped out of his car, only that he opened his door. There are many people who have broken windows and are actually UNABLE to open them. What do you know-it-alls suggest they do, ignore the cop? The cop had no reason to assume he was hostile unless he was evading being pulled over beforehand, or his driving was exceptionally malicious, or he had a warrant for his arrest (none of those are apparent in the FML post). What the cop SHOULD have said was, "Stay in your car!" first, not "GET ON THE ******* GROUND!" If he still disobeyed after being told that, then got OUT of the car, then the cop can be concerned. That's still more than enough time to draw his weapon and aim it. The cop overreacted greatly... unless the OP got out of the car, in which case the OP is an idiot. But the OP didn't say that, but apparently nobody read the post.

Tint isn't pointless. Spend a summer in central Florida, and see how much you wished you had tint on your car. AC alone won't help you down here, when it's 95 degrees every day with 100% humidity.

cops are too assuming these days, especially if you are a minority. sorry to say but profiling is true. anyways the cop overreacted. in my neighborhood, an undercover cop shot a rocker guy running away from him because he thought the cop was a gangster when his MICROPHONE fell out of his pocket. the cop thought it was a gun. talk about jumping the gun. watch out for scared cops. btw. they should be trained to stay calm or something

I used to have a car where the driver side window would roll down because of a power problem, when i got pulled over i would open my door just a crack when the cop was walking up and say "MY WINDOW DOESN'T ROLL DOWN".... but then again i didn't have 20% tint and look like i was ridin' hot 'n dirty

No matter if the newly tinted windows could be rolled down or not. Its a YDI because, he got pulled over for some reason. Either the tints were too dark, he was speeding, or he was driving aggressively. If the OP hadn't of done one of those things it never would've happened.

You deserve it. That's the stupidest thing you can do. Most cops die in regular traffic stops, not shoot outs, by opening your door as he's approaching, you're just asking to get shot. Also, no I wouldn't have done the same, I would've put my freaking window down. Tint on one window is $50 max, my life is worth more than that to me. Not to mention, he probably pulled you over for having a too dark of a tint, so that's gonna be coming off anyways!
