Today, I found out that my university had not accepted the internship I did when I was in college. They placed me in the same bank I interned in, with the same bank manager that I flipped the middle finger at after finishing my internship. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Cut the crap
Today, as usual, I got to my internship early, did everything my bosses asked. At the end of the day, I was fired after 3 weeks of working unpaid overtime because they found an applicant with more experience for the job I applied to and they wanted to cut costs. FML
Today, I completed my two-month internship, where I have been working as hard as I could with the hope of being hired. My boss couldn't remember my name, and declined to be a reference. FML
Today, I found out I didn't get accepted into a program I was nominated to attend at work that all other applicants with less experience than myself did. I found out when they asked if I had gotten the acceptance email. They didn't even bother telling me I was rejected. FML
Source?
Today, I accidentally put down the wrong year for my university graduation, so when my prospective boss was checking my references he found no mention of my name in that year's list of graduates. He accused me of faking my qualifications and refused to hire me. It was a 6-figure salary. FML
Today, I was let go from my internship for "not putting in enough effort". I was working 50 hours a week for almost zero pay. FML
Today, I was turned down for a job because they thought I lied about having a six-month internship. Why? The secretary I told off for stealing my lunch every single day told them she hadn't heard of me, and the new company won't listen. FML
Emergency
Today, I got an email from the person I'm supposed to start an internship with next week, saying they're leaving the company. This has been planned since October and will be a year long. Now I have to try to sort things out as quickly as possible if I want to graduate on time. FML
Today, I got fired from my position as a financial investor for giving a client the exact investment he asked for, even though the investment was out of my mandate, and I had gone to my direct manager to authorize the investment. My manager was promoted. FML
Today, I found out that the money I spent on a very specific degree was wasted, because apparently, I don't qualify for a job at the place that told me I had to have that degree. FML
Nepotism rules
Today, I got notice that I didn't get the new position I applied for at work. After two interviews, pay negotiation and paperwork, as well as years of giving this place all my time, I found out my boss gave it to his friend's daughter, who has no experience or credentials needed for the position. FML

Don't burn bridges until they're fully crossed, and even then think twice before burning them. You may have to cross it again.

I have worked under and around a number of serious, serious assholes with power complexes, and never once did flipping them off or performing any other unprofessional gesture seem like a plausible option. If you were completely lazy and incompetent, they wouldn't be likely to speak highly of you anyway, but OP really put the nail in that coffin.

Why in the world would you flip off your manager? Even if he was a complete asshole you might have still needed him later. YDI.

Who even gives the finger these days?! Everyone's always cursing and/or throwing fists. But yeah, sorry but YDI.

I think if the OP tried to punch the manager he would have gotten a lot worse than losing the internship..

Only crazy people throw fists...

That's awful. I would hate if my school did this to me especially because I couldn't stand my boss, but you should really have more self control than that...
