Today, I found out that my ex let my son eat nothing but cereal and milk for every single meal during his five-day visit. Now my son shrieks, cries, and has a meltdown if I try to make him eat real food. My ex merely replied, "Your problem now." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Dad of the week
Today, I picked up my son, who was recently diagnosed with ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder), from my ex-husband. My ex said, "Yeah, he's over that bullshit eating thing. I told him no video games or TV unless he tried something new at every meal." I hate this smug fucking prick. FML
A tad dramatic
Today, my estranged fiancé invited my son (from a previous relationship) and I over for dinner, hoping to reconcile somewhat. When he brought out the roast, my son pointed and yelled, "I'M NOT GONNA EAT THAT!" He was so offended that he kicked us both out and now refuses to talk. FML
Mommy milkers
Today, we ran out of milk and my 4 year-old son came up to me and asked if he could "milk" my wife's breasts for his cereal. Apparently, he thinks my wife doesn't love him and his sister is selfish for not sharing her milk. His sister is only one month old. FML
Mom of the week
Today, my son spilled his milk at the table. My wife got in his face and screamed that he took her body, her career, her friends, and her life from her, then stormed out of the house. He won't stop wailing and crying, she won't answer her phone, and I'm completely shattered. FML
He Tried?
Today, I told my soon-to-be-ex that he never does anything for the kids, and hasn't contributed a dime. He showed up with a half a gallon of milk and a box of cereal. Not what I meant. FML
Mommy's boy
Today, for the hundredth fucking time, my stepson asked for a snack twenty minutes before dinner. When I told him no, he cried to his mom, who yelled at me and gave him a granola bar. Then, when dinner came, he "wasn't hungry", picked at his food, and fussed and cried. FML
Today, after it appeared my daughter was throwing away any vegetables in her school lunch, I packed her all vegetables so she would have to eat at least one. Nope! She threw them out and complained to school that "mommy doesn't feed" her. I got a call from the school. FML
Weekend vibes
Today, my wife had a shit fit because my son said I hadn't fed him. I'd asked him four times what he wanted for breakfast, and every time he said, "I'm not hungry right now." Great start to the fucking weekend. FML
Today, I'm taking care of my 12-year-old daughter because my ex-wife thought she could cure our daughter's lactose intolerance by sneaking milk into her soy breakfast. The milk had expired. FML
Leave us alone
Today, my husband and mother started supplementing my newborn son with formula, because they are such control freaks and don't like my son getting attached to me. He was doing very well while exclusively breastfed according to the doctor. But it looks like my happiness or my son's well-being is of zero importance. FML

Sounds like your ex is trying to turn your son against you. You need to put your foot down with both of them.

This is technically child neglect which is child abuse, because he neglected to feed your son a proper diet and did so intentionally, time for child protective services.

Cereal is nutritious. Yes, it's nice to see your child eat "real" food, but as long as they are healthy. I suggest leave fresh fruit and veggies within reach. And cheer up OP. Some parents don't ever bother seeing their kid.

not necessarily. Most cereals are really bad for you and full of sugar. regardless, kids need a balanced diet.

It would've been best if this specific person didn't want to see their kid if this is how they care for them.

If he doesn't eat what you give him, then he doesn't eat. Eventually he'll get hungry enough to eat it. Kids wont purposely starve themselves.

People always say this but it depends on the child. I've known two separate children who made themselves very sick by refusing to eat. One's parents eventually gave up and just started letting the kid fix his own meals. The other one wound up in the Behavioral health hospital being threatened with having a feeding tube inserted. I know that for a lot of kids the "If they don't want what they are served then they don't eat" thing works but there are definitely kids in the world who are willing to starve before giving in.

Time to contact the Friend of the Court. Visitation rights might need to be amended.

I guess it’s time to start the eat what you’re given or starve plan

I wouldn't let this man near your kid unless he's the biological father, and if he is, you can always go back to your divorce decree with the court to limit his visitations. My father either wouldn't feed me or he'd take me to Old Country Buffet once a day, maybe once every 2 days, and tell me to eat till I throw up. I have a lifelong eating disorder because if this. It's not worth it for your son.

I've been down this road before. The court will say he fed him. If a parent sees the kid and pays child support the court doesn't give a rats arse

and if the doctor or health clinician says the food was not nutritious and a dangerously unhealthy diet? surely they'd do something then.

Looks like your ex played some Trix on you and is turning your Life into a Total disaster. Maybe he was Raisin Bran awareness just for Kix?

I cereal potential in your puns, but they might need a little work. Maybe one day you'll find your Lucky Charms.

OP, don't let your kid see his dad until he apologizes. For now, it's HIS problem, too. Good luck! :-)

If it is court agreed visitation, that wouldn't bode well for mom.
