Today, I discovered that the pain I've had for the past couple of weeks was actually due to a broken collar bone. Now work won't pay for the treatment I need because I continued to work despite the pain. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to the emergency room for a broken collarbone. This wouldn’t be so bad if my parents hadn’t paid $20,000 for me to go to a snowboarding academy all winter. Today was day one. FML
Today, I broke my collarbone in a rugby tournament. I was forced to sit through five more hours of games because the coach wouldn't take me to the hospital until the tournament was over. FML
Today, I realized I need a new job. This happened when I was seriously considering ways to break my leg so I could stay at home for a day and not have to deal with my boss. FML
Get well soon
Today, I'm in hospital after having surgery for a broken leg. I’m maxed out on Endone and still in pain. Work have said that I’m on the roster next week and I’ll be fired if I’m not there. My wife said that she is going to have some "me time" for a few days when I get home from my "holiday". FML
I'm not paid enough for this
Today, while helping a child through a tantrum, I was kicked and my hand broke. The bone is completely in half and fixing it will require plates, screws, and surgery along with months of recovery. Another day on the job. FML
MVP
Today, during my second shift back at work after missing four weeks for knee surgery, I stabbed myself in the hand and now need three weeks off for that surgery. Just as I'm up for a promotion. FML
Today, my boss called me to say that I've been slow at work this week and that I will be replaced if I don't pick up the pace. That would be understandable, if I didn't have a broken ankle and pneumonia. FML
Crap
Today, I hurt my back at work due to faulty, outdated, and just crap equipment. Workers’ comp offered me two Tylenols and a pamphlet about "mindfulness over medical bills." FML
Good things come in threes
Today, after I fell over and fractured my knee, I've been in hospital for a week. I now have a metal plate in my knee, and am due to be off work for months, I wouldn't mind as much if I hadn't been hit by a car two years ago, spent a week in hospital for a fractured vertebrae, and was off work for months. FML
But… the economy!
Today, I found out that my boss was actually legally obligated to send me to the hospital after I was hit on the head while working. I had to finish the entire work day while heavily concussed, and by the time I got to the ER I had lost complete feeling in my right side. They asked me to come in the day after. FML

Don't Canadians usually go on about their free healthcare?

Did it happen at work? If so they should cover it regardless of whether or not you continued to work.

If the injury occurred on the job, you have to report it immediately for it to be covered under Workers Comp. Even if you are not receiving medical treatment at that time. By waiting too long you've absolved your employer of responsibility. Sorry, OP. Hope you heal soon!

Your fault for not going to the doctor or reporting it

Wouldn't your health insurance still cover treatment despite this?

It's actually common that people don't recognize a broken collarbone right away. I've seen people that were certain they just needed to pop a joint back into place only to find out it's a broken collarbone. The healing process is rough, best wishes.

Even if it did happen at work there is a window of time that if you don't report it and seek medical treatment their no longer liable

Damn bro that's dedication. I broke my collarbone at hockey and couldn't even lift my arm to take my shirt off, whether or not they cover you, just know you've got some big balls lol.

I hope you heal Okay, since you went so long without treatment. I am confused, though, as to why your work should pay. Please give an update with more information about what happened.

A couple of weeks is a bit late to try and have your work cover it if it even happened at work. Jobs require that stuff to be reported immediately. You deserved it for not doing something about it sooner.
