Today, I bought an iTunes giftcard worth $50. I tried to scratch off the little silver thing covering the code with a pair of scissors. I scratched so much that it's now unreadable. FML

Today, I bought a $50 Nintendo eShop card to redeem on my Nintendo Switch. As I was scratching the grey area, I scratched too hard, making it hard to see what it was. I tried randomly guessing and asking for help. Neither helped. Guess who didn't get $50 back. FML
Today, I received a $50 iTunes card for my birthday. I immediately sat down at my computer and starting buying all my newest favorites. Then I realized I never redeemed my card so the $50 was all charged to my account. FML
Today, I saw some random iTunes charge on my bank account so I called who I thought was iTunes customer support to figure out the $5 charge, then got scammed into buying $1,400 worth of gift cards. The man on the phone was not with iTunes and took all my money. FML
Today, it's my birthday. I asked everyone for iTunes money, pleased to finally be able to buy some new songs for my iPod. After receiving several gift cards, I discovered that my iPod had been stolen. FML
Today, I found out the gift card my friend gave me for Christmas actually has no money on it and was never purchased in the first place. FML
Today I bought a $50 voucher card to refill my phone. After I purchased it, I threw the receipt in the dustbin. When I got home, I found out that the 14-digit pin code was on the receipt. I basically threw 57 bucks in the dustbin. FML
Today, I found out that my boyfriend wrote 50 dollars on my gift card just to look generous, it's really only worth five. I found this out after I tried to buy an arm full of clothes. FML
Today, I scratched my car with a bottle of scratch remover deeply enough that the scratch remover couldn't remove it. FML
Today, I realized the $40 iPhone case I bought to keep my new phone from getting scratched, scratched my iPhone. FML
Today, behind a cabinet, I found a scratch-off lottery ticket I hadn't scratched yet. After scratching it off, I realized it's a $2,500 winner. The lottery commission won't accept it because they stopped using that game 2 years ago. FML

If you enter an incorrect code enough times it gives you the option to "get help" which lets you type in the serial number.

This could also be a teenager or pre-teen who isn't allowed to have either, or isn't allowed to use them without his or her parents' permission. There's also what #19 said. If I use my debit card I know I'll spend a lot of money on songs at once. With the giftcard, I just spend as much as I buy that day. Some of us lack self-control when it comes to buying music.

you can just give it to the store along with your recipt. last time I did that they gave me a refund when I explained it.

I did that same thing, but the store wouldn't give me a refund even though I had the receipt. Good luck!

Thats because its hard to prove that you didnt already use the code then scratch off rest to get a $50 refund. Which is fraud.
