Today, I awoke to find that my car had been burglarized in my own driveway and several hundred dollars worth of electronics were stolen. I only later discovered that my campus parking pass had also been stolen when I got a $75 ticket while taking a chemistry test. FML

First, burglarized IS, in fact, a word. Second, who doesn't leave electronics in their car? I thought that was a normal practice. You cannot tell me that every night you take ALL of the electronics out of your car, that's just pointless. And who knows if they were visible? The thief could have quite easily looked through the car and found them. Fourth, the garage could have also been occupied...So I think everyone is coming down too hard on the OP. This was definitely a crappy day for him! Sorry OP! :)

Wouldn't the ticket be put on your car? This sounds too fake.

or the ticket was put on his car during the exam, and found it after the fact

Burglarized is a word now? Also, did you leave all that stuff on show? Because if you did you really were asking for it. If not it sucks, but you should know better than to leave valubles in a car, but sucks. Hope the test went ok though.

bur·glar·ize [bur-gluh-rahyz] -verb (used with object) 1. to break into and steal from: Thieves burglarized the warehouse. -verb (used without object) 2. to commit burglary. Also, especially British, bur·glar·ise . dictionary.com

Well my spell check didn't recognise it, which was what I was basing it on because I'm lazy like that :P However there are a lot of words in dictionaries that shouldn't be. Such as bouncebackability, not sure on the spelling, but it got in just because a sports commentator used it. Just saying. But I did get what it meant.

Burglarize has been a word for quite a few centuries.

I always thought it was burgled...

Well I've always heard/said burgled too. Burglarised still sounds like a word that I'd make up if I'm having one of my many daft moments, regardless of how long it's been an actual word.

yes, it clearly is a word, that everyone should know if they are over 10 years old

ydi you should know to always take all valuables out of your car when youre done forthe night. just because your ca was in your driveway it doesn't mean that people won't steal shit once again ydi

If you left those electronics in view, you were asking for it. But either way ydi for having left your electronics in the car. Next time, just take them in your bag and turn them off if you're gonna go take a test. Common sense fail :/
