Today, my classmate commented on how quiet I am. I responded with, "Well, nobody plots murder out loud," trying to be funny. My teacher tried to get me arrested. FML

I think that's a funny response for an unnecessary comment from your classmate. Seems to me your teacher overreacted; most of my teachers when I was in school would've laughed that off. Sorry OP!

Probably not the smartest idea especially if he wasnt a close friend and especially if you are the quiet loner type.... Can anyone say Columbine or Virginia Tech..... I understand it was just a joke.... Or was it lol jk but seriously thats a joke you should probably onlu pull with close friends who know you well.

Agreed, you really gotta know your audience. Just because it'd be funny with your friends doesn't mean it go so well outside of that. Also, lots of places even if the teacher did find it funny, they may be required to report it regardless especially depending on how it was said.

Same thing happened to me in Band class. The director was talking about auditions for a competition and saying how there will always be someone better than you not matter what. Then I "quietly" said, "Unless you kill them all." Not as quite as I thought but both him and the class laughed at my inner dark side. He even made a joke about having to assassinate them.

Funny as hell. And for your next joke, go to the airport and say you have a bomb. You're teacher over reacted, but I see her point, in todays world. If she had let is slide and it tunred out you weren't joking . . .

schools these days have a zero tolerance policy which I'm sure you are aware of, they take those threats very seriously even if it was a joke. you should have known better.

Same thing happend to me. I was new in 'that' school and well someone asked me why I was so silent. Thanks to my teacher she said "Most of the serial killers are silent so you shouldn't mess with him" and now whole school thinks I'm a serial killer. >_
