Get me out of here

Today, I found the perfect job, which would help me escape my super toxic in-laws and marriage. I have all the educational and other qualifications for it, and it is a permanent well paying job with the government. Too bad the recruitment process takes years to complete, by which time I might've offed myself. FML

Apply For The Job!!!! You have to escape your toxic situation and having the light at the end of the tunnel in sight, it's better than nothing at all.

If you think it’s a good match for you, start the process… In the meantime if your marriage is that toxic you can either see if it’s salvageable between you and your spouse or you can see a lawyer… Operate in both the here and now and plan and work for the future. But, DO NOT TELL ANYONE THAT YOU ARE PURSUING THE “DREAM JOB TO ESCAPE YOUR MARRIAGE AND IN-LAWS!.. If that bit of information gets back to spouse or in-laws they will do everything they can to sabotage you. And it’s not a very good sounding motivator to explain to a hiring manager. Unless it spills into your relationship with your spouse, try not to let the in-laws ruin your marriage. They might even be trying to do that for some other reason. Or maybe it’s just a really toxic family.

Yep - I’d like to add that in addition to doing this, apply for other jobs! You may find your dream job while you’re waiting for this one - or even do a double move after a couple years. That’s quite common these days, and you’ll probably find yourself happier than it seems you are now! Also, it was probably hyperbole when you said you’d off yourself - but things do get better. Look for the light at the end of the tunnel, and also the light along the way. It’s life’s small joys that make life worth living :)

Maybe get a divorce? Even with a dream job, you'll still have to spend time with your crap family!

get any job and leave now. rent a room from someone and file for divorce. if you wait for everything to fall into place then it will never happen. you'll be poor for awhile and struggling but you'll be on your own.
