Today, where I work at a pharmacy, we were short staffed and running 4 hours behind. A lady came to drop off a new prescription. When I explained to her the wait time, she called the patient. I heard, "No, they don't look busy." Like, really? FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, at work, I was calling customers to tell them that they had prescriptions waiting to be picked up. It was a long list and every time I reached an answering machine I left our number so they could call us back. When I was finished, the pharmacist told me I been giving out our fax number. FML
Today, I scrambled to get out of work on the dot to go to a special pharmacy that closes at 5 pm an hour away. I arrived at 4:58. Upon reaching the door, one of the employees came and locked it in my face. Apparently, her going home early was more important than me getting my medication. FML
Today, I was yelled at by a customer because I couldn't tell her where the vitamins were in the pharmacy. The manager came and yelled at me for being lazy and incompetent. I work in the store across the street from the pharmacy. FML
Today, I was that person in the pharmacy that held the line up for 25 minutes. When I got home, I realized I left my prescriptions in the shopping cart in the store's parking lot. FML
Today, I went to the doctor's office for an appointment. After waiting for ages, I asked the receptionist what the delay was. Apparently, I had no standing appointment today. This is coming from the same receptionist who checked me in nearly two hours ago. FML
Today, I called in a refill for a vital medication that I've been on since a couple of decades ago. No big deal since I called a week in advance. I then received a notification that the specific medication is out of stock at the moment, and they won't have another set ready for four days. FML
Today, I went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription and waited in line for fifteen minutes. When I got to the counter, the pharmacist couldn't find my name anywhere. I checked my phone and realized I'd gone to the wrong branch. FML
Today, I was at work, stocking shelves. A customer got mad because I was in the way of her "shopping time" and knocked down all the work I had done. FML
Today, after checking in and waiting for three hours to see the doctor, the receptionist said she forgot about me because she didn't see me. She asked me to come back tomorrow. I was sitting right in front of her. FML
Today, a lady stormed into the pharmacy I work at and chewed me out because the medicine I sold her the day before gave her horrible diarrhea as a "side effect". I checked, and it was the medicine she asked for - laxatives. FML

must be an American thing. my prescriptions are always filled immediately, so if the pharmacy had a 4-hour backlog, it would also have a 4-hour line.

must be an American thing. my prescriptions are always filled immediately, so if the pharmacy had a 4-hour backlog, it would also have a 4-hour line.

My experience with pharmacies as an American are you can either have it filled while you’re there (which usually entails a long-ish wait) or you can call it in and they fill it and you pick it up later. My guess is because they were short staffed, they couldn’t get the called-in prescriptions filled fast enough.

I am sorry, it may be because english is not my mother language but I don't get it? Did that lady came in with her own prescription and when you said she would have to wait for her pills/medicine, she complained that you guys don't look busy? Or was it the prescription for another patient? Sorry it may be an American thing but where I am we go to the pharmacy with our own prescription and wait in line.

The person in the pharmacy was trying to fill the prescription of the person they were calling. That person may have been a family member of the person needing the drug, or a caretaker, or, in some states, their slave.
