Today, I was on the train next to an elderly woman. When I told her it was my stop, she turned her knees towards the aisle, and I, thinking that she was letting me go by, began to edge past. She screamed, "DON'T PUSH ME!" and the whole train turned to look. I was thus the asshole pushing the old lady. FML

Today, as I was trying to get off a crowded train, some asshole pushed past me hard enough to nearly knock me over. My bag hit a preschool kid standing behind me, and I missed my stop trying to apologize to him. His mom yelled at me all the way to the next stop. FML
Today, I offered my seat to an elderly lady on the subway. She quietly refused. Minutes later on a sharp turn, she almost fell down on two people. As I was clearly the youngest in the disability seating section, everyone on the train turned and glared at me. FML
Today, on the train, a man kept grabbing my crotch. When I told him to stop, I got yelled at for harassing an elderly man. FML
Today, I was taking a walk, when an elderly lady in a motorized wheelchair slammed into me from behind. There was plenty of room to pass by, but noooo, trying to run me down like a dog, then giving me the finger and yelling "Watch where you're walking!" is so damn preferable. FML
Today, I went on a busy train. I packed myself in close to a very good looking woman and, too scared to say anything, looked out the window. After feeling a hand on my ass, I assumed it was her. To not ruin the moment, I didn't look back. After a few stops, I looked back. It was an old man. FML
Today, an old lady fell in the street, and I rushed to help her. As I tried to help her to her feet, she started screaming, "She pushed me! She pushed me!" I froze up in shock, and ended up being chased by some guy who thought I'd attacked her. FML
Today, I was yelled at by a bunch of angry people because I couldn't physically move out of the way while 10 more tried to force their way onto a subway in Shanghai. Then one old lady started hitting me with her purse to get me to move even more. FML
Today, as I caught the train home, a woman got on and sat on the only available seat next to me. We got talking and as the train approached the next station, she said that this was her stop and she had to go. She exited the train and I turn to see her enter the compartment behind me. FML
Today, an old lady savagely shoved me out of a queue, after I'd been waiting for twenty minutes. I couldn't bring myself to fight back or say anything, and ended up dragging my sorry arse to the back of the queue. FML
Today, I was on the tram, when an elderly couple got on. I stood up to give them room to sit together, but as I stood up, the tram set off and I went flying, knocking the elderly gentleman over. FML

#3, while, yes, this sucks for OP, you have absolutely no idea what was going on in that woman's mind. This is a random woman OP met on a train, and clearly had a bad interaction with. I work with the elderly and for some people, past a certain age your mind isn't simply there. They can say one thing one minute and forget they said it the next. Until you know the person and the situation you should probably refrain from calling someone a "old crazy self centered hag". As someone who works with clients with Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, etc., your comment is offensive. You're entitled to your opinion but it holds no validity since you were not present nor do you know this woman's condition/state of mind.

The only scenario I can think of where something like this would happen is if the old lady is a very old fashioned, judgemental woman. Where maybe OP doesn't quite look the way she feels is "normal". Maybe she has messy hair, messy clothes, or possibly she is of different color and the old lady is racist. The old lady only sat next to her because there is no other seat, and wanted nothing to do with her. Once OP talked to her, she ignored what she said and turned away. Then when OP brushed by and even just slightly touched her, she freaked out.

I think public transportation has a way of bringing out people's rude sides. You're all crammed together, most people are in a hurry, there's always a stink of some kind, not to mention the weird people. It's worse if you've had a bad day. Buses, trains, airplanes—there's just something about being trapped with strangers that can bring out the worst in people.
