This is a true fml.
My friend got a call just like that only about syphalis, she went and got tested and didn't really have it so go get tested at a planned parenthood or something! :)
Same thing happened to me except I was donating plasma. Turn out it was from when I was born, all the blood transfusions. I was born before that was something that was tested.
You definitely want to go to a doctor and get it confirmed--the Red Cross does sometimes mix up who donated what blood. Not often, but it does happen. At least they caught it before the blood was given to someone. Other than that...well, it's not hard to not get Hep C in the first place, unless you've gotten a blood transfusion yourself.
ugh i swear some of u guys r soo freakin heartless like where is ur compasion? i can't believe how cruel some people r to each other nowadays..GET A LIFE.. As for u OP i hope all goes well for u, just hope and pray that it was false but if not still pray and have faith that all will be alright..Good Luck
Oh get over it! You're in a high risk group, and it would be reckless to accept your blood. Is your pride worth more than thousands of peoples lives? They won't accept my blood either, because I ate a hamburger in England. Seriously! After the Mad Cow disease outbreak, our local blood centres won't accept donations from anyone who ate beef in the UK, in case they're infected with CJK disease.
From the CDC:- "the rate of new HIV diagnoses among MSM in the US is more than 44 times that of other men" You really do think your pride is more important than someone else life, don't you! Should they also allow prostitutes and IV drug users to donate blood, in case it hurts their feelings? Blood donation policies are based on medical facts, not politics.

damn, finally a REAL reason to say FML
This happened to my sister, hep C and all. Turns out it was a false alarm. I just made a FML account to tell you to get checked again by a private doc and don't freak out. She thought her life was over for about two weeks. Don't let that be you.
