Oh my!! I would be ripping into the last guy I slept with and get him prosecuted, if I were you!!!
Perhaps he doesn't know he is infected. Perhaps the OP got infected from an even earlier partner or she got it from a non sexual method. The OP herself didn't know she was infected. Prosecute the last boyfriend when u don't even know how u got infected? You are an ignorant jerk.
damn, finally a REAL reason to say FML
This happened to my sister, hep C and all. Turns out it was a false alarm. I just made a FML account to tell you to get checked again by a private doc and don't freak out. She thought her life was over for about two weeks. Don't let that be you.
Exactly this. I know two people that show a false positive for Hep A on the blood donation screening test, but don't actually have it. Go and get tested specifically for Hep C by a doctor. If it is a false positive, you still won't be able to donate blood, as they'll reject it every time, but having the disease is a very big deal, so you'll want to know for sure.
I also had a hepatitis false positive a few years ago. I went to my doctor, and she had me tested multiple times over a year. I definitely don't have hepatitis.
I'm really, really sorry. Best of luck to you with treatment and such. Who knows, in our time we are likely to find a cure! Hang in there for the time being and think positive! It's good for you immune system. :-)
there is a cure?
Actually, there is a cure. There is a 15% spontaneous cure rate without treatment, and with treatment (with Pegasys or PEG-Intron) the overall cure rate is about 50%. It isn't like herpes which, like a diamond, is forever.
There is a cure. It's like taking chemotherapy and there's only a 50% chance it will cure it. (Although this is true for the type my husband has, I believe there are different types of hep c.) However my husbands doctor is advising him to wait about a year for treatment because they are making a new drug that is more effective, less harsh on your body and a shorter cycle. Anyway, my point is FYL, but it's lucky you found it and lucky you are diagnosed in 2011 when treatment (though very expensive) is readily available. Side note, unless you're doing kinky ass blood to blood sex acts, it's not passed sexually.
hell of a way to find out ehh?
Oh suck it up. seriously.
Suck it up? OP should just "get over" the fact that he has a potentially life-threatening disease? Do you even know what hepatitis C is? Allow me to educate you. About 200 million people worldwide are infected. It can cause cirrhosis and liver cancer. It's only 50% curable at best. The only thing here that sucks, other than having hepatitis C, is you. Next time you decide to try making a comment, turn your brain on first.
Actually, 51% of people with Hep. C are cured.
I have had Hep C since the day I was born. its not a big deal.
Ugh. That sucks. Hey, at least you found out so you can limit the risk of spreading it to other people. Best of luck with treatment.
