Well, of course they won't believe someone managed to hit their face on a trash can. You should tell them something more common, like that she fell down the stairs or ran against a door.

Like I'm supposed to believe she hit her own head against the trash can. Why not just fess up and tell everyone that the trash can disposed of its anger after being treated like garbage for so long?

You should give her a lesson on being more careful.

I hear you. a few years ago, my while my wife was prepping for knee surgery, she had polyps removed from her shoulder joint. if that wasn't enough, she got an abscess in her mouth which made her upper lip swollen. For a week, she had a sling, was on a crutch and had a swollen lip. I got death stares everywhere we went.

Maybe see if it would hurt her to wear one of those cooling eyepatches? And if she would want to, of course. If she did and can, it would relieve some of her pain and might cover the bruise some.
