Today, the only card I got for Valentine's Day was in my mother's handwriting, and she posted it through the front door herself. She still won't admit it's from her. FML

Same thing different taste
Today, I got an early Valentine's day card. My boyfriend and I recently broke up, and my hopes shot up thinking it might be from him. It wasn't. It was from my parents. FML
Today, my Mom came to pay me a short visit at college. She handed me some flowers, which were a Valentine's Day gift, because she "figured I wouldn't be getting any from anyone else this year." FML
Today, I got flowers sent to my work, I happily opened them in front of my co-workers thinking they were from my crush, I open the card to see "Love you, from mom". My mother thinks my love life is so pathetic, thats she needs to send me flowers to cheer me up. FML
Today, I got a birthday card from my parents. It was my sister's from earlier in the year. They scratched out her name and wrote mine underneath. FML
Today, I was in a terrific mood after finding a bouquet of beautiful flowers on my doorstep when I came home. That is, until I recognised the handwriting of my "secret admirer" was the same as my mother's. FML
Today, I got a reply to my Valentine's Day card that I sent to my girlfriend. I'll get the address right next time because her neighbor is really creeping me out now. FML
It's the thought that counts, right?
Today, I was once again sent tons of Mother's Day cards in the mail, even though my son died years ago and I've told people that I'm not a mother anymore. FML
Thanks, I guess…
Today, it was my birthday and everyone in the office chipped in to buy me a card, and nothing but a card. It had a pre-written message on it and a space to write "Love, *insert name*" where everyone signed their names. The "Love" was crossed out and replaced with "From". FML
Today, my grandma sent me a Valentine's Day card. For years she's been hinting at me to lose weight. The card: a picture of cookies on the front and a gym membership inside. FML
Today, while at the office, a surprise Valentine's gift arrived for me, the first I've ever received. It was a box of heart-shaped cookies. From my mother. I'm 39. FML

At least she loves you enough to try and cheer you up. Why are you smiting her for it? Maybe if you weren't so cynical other people would show you some Valentine's day love..

Be grateful that you still have your mother around to do sweet things like that for you. I would do anything to have my mother back.

I mean ya, if my mom did that I would probably be mad, but I would get over it. She was probably just trying to make you feel better

I'm only 16 and my mom was all I had. She died a little over a year ago. I'd do anything just to see her one more time. Be grateful you still have a mom OP :)

You'll get over it, at least you don't have to put up with a tyrannous father.

Nobody just "gets over" the death of their only parent. They simply try to accept it. And no I don't have to deal with having a tyrannical father, but I do have to deal with my pill-popping, psycho, bipolar aunt that I live with. I love her, but she can be a little mean sometimes

Katie, I'm sorry for your loss. Try your best to ignore inappropriate and witless comments like "get over it". People who say these things either don't understand what you're going through, or are trying to impart their own grieving tactics onto you. You will grieve and move forward with your life in your own way. Stay strong...the first year is always the hardest, but time will dull the pain some.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate what you just said ^.^ So many people are telling me to shut up about it and everything but it's still fairly shocking to me that she's gone and most people that tell me to shut up have both their parents so they don't understand at all. Guys, I'm sorry if I'm annoying you all with me talking about my mom. I'm not trying to get sympathy at all. Just try to put yourself in my position. That's what I do with you guys. Thank you :)

I am right there with you. I lost my mom about 3 years ago. It doesn't get any easier. Keep your chin up though.

Yea. I live in the same house my mom lived and died in, and she died literally right in from of me, so it's pretty rough. I'm staying positive though :) I plan on using all the total bullshit I've been through to help others and let them know that they'll be ok and just be there for them. Thank you for the encouragement :) Keep your chin up too, darling ^.^

Aww, well that's sweet of her. I know everyone wants a romantic Valentine's day but it's a day of love. ALL kinds of love. And your mommy loves you :D

At least she was trying to make you feel better so why not let her think she did
