Today, I was on my way to college when I got in a car wreck with none other than my professor. My car was totaled and couldn't drive, but his could so I missed class, but he still made it. The end result? He marked me as an "unexcused absence" and gave me a zero. The accident was his fault. FML

Today, my teacher announced that he'd be out for a week because he was going to Vegas. I happily said, "Woo hoo!" Then he finished his sentence by telling me it was because his dad had died. FML

Today, my college professor said that anyone who misses the final next week automatically fails, "even if their grandmother died." My grandmother, the woman who raised me, died last night and her funeral is next week. Same day as the final. Across the country. FML

A teacher's burden

Today, a parent came into my class and told one of my 6 year-old students that their grandma died. Then the parent left. The kid started crying from the news, which then got all the other students crying. I spent the rest of the day comforting a class of kids crying over someone else's grandma. FML

Today, I had to go to my daughter's school because she hasn't been going to class. Her teacher seemed surprised to see me with my husband when we arrived. Apparently I "died" recently and my daughter has had extra responsibility around the house, hence why she doesn't come to class. FML

Today, my English teacher asked me why I didn't have my project completed. Thinking quick on my feet, I told her it was because my grandmother had just passed away. Apparently they go to the same country club and have known each other for years. My teacher started crying and ran out of the room. FML

This is a terrible thing to happen, I lost my best friend in a car accident last year, so Im not saying this to be a jerk or anything, but seriously? ..WHY WOULD YOU POST SOMETHING SO HORRIBLE, SO DEVASTATING, ON THE GODDAMN FML SITE?! Im not saying what you can and cannot post on this site, but why would you even think its okay to do that, and say, "oh, FML because those jerks cheered at a loved one's death." Those friends/classmates of yours are insensitive jerks and such, but YOU, miss author, are also insensitive to post something so... personal and painful on THIS site!!! Especially this site. Im sure the man who passed away is in a better place, death of a loved one is painful, but your... unbelievable, an idiot, for posting it in such context...

If it makes her feel better to tell people of her story and hear their comments then she should be allowed to, although perhaps a more serious site would be suitable. Also, those "friends" of yours sound like terrible, terrible people. When our teacher lost her husband the whole class did our best to help her and took it seriously. To lose one's child is the most horrific thing on Earth.
