Today, my mom has gone completely insane and insists we only flush the toilet or wash our hands at the start or end of the day, "to save on bills." My young sister thinks it's the best idea ever. My mom makes our food, and my sister just loves to touch everyone's faces. FML

maybe give your mom print outs on sanitary water saving ideas? Like putting a sealed jug of sand in the water tank of toilet so it uses less water, getting water saving/low flow shower heads? Things like that? Hand sanitizer can only do so much and kills your skin and feels gross after so many applications. Maybe with her doing some active stuff to the home to save on water bills, it might lift the insanity of the no flush or wash rule? Good luck OP and I hope you have a friends place you can stay over at often.

Nasty! I'd flush and wash hands anyway. Lock door so she can't stop you from washing. Or I guess hand sanitizer as a back up.

I think someone missed the main point of the FML... So let's try this again: The mother will be making OP's food, and the sister will be touching OP's face, both with their unwashed hands. It doesn't really matter how much OP washes her own hands, she can't force her mom and sister to do the same, so she's still quite likely to get sick because of them.

My mums husband doesn't flush his wee... It's friggen disgusting, I'm so glad I don't live at home anymore, the thought of it is making me cringe. Ew.
