Today, my Dad came home with a $500 jacket that he'd bought himself for Christmas. I'd bought him the same one, and it's non refundable. FML

Screw it, wrap it and put it under the tree anyway. Teach him a lesson in patience.

You have excellent present-choosing skills, OP! Hopefully you can sell it or exchange it :)

This is why I don't buy things I want until a two weeks after Christmas (I have family all over the world so presents are often late), because one time I bought my mother a 800 dollar ring she had wanted for ever, and wrapped it and put it under the tree. She had gotten herself a present, which ended up being the almost, same ring.

Sometimes it's nice to have 2 of a really nice jacket, so it doesn't wear out so fast and you have a spare in case something happens to one.

That sucks, op. I guess you could keep it for yourself then?

your life doesn't suck if you can afford a 500 dollar jacket ?

Our family rule: No buying any presents for yourself starting on Thanksgiving until after Christmas.

Sounds like you're both dumb for spending $500 on a jacket.

You could sell it I guess?

A few years ago, I bought myself a dictionary within two weeks before Christmas. My mother got angry at me, because she bought the exact same dictionary for me for Christmas. She didn't know what she was going to do with the dictionary, and told me that I don't get a gift anymore. I also got lip from my sister. It was a dictionary! Who buys someone a dictionary for Christmas -_-

Your mum apparently...

I guess two is better than one?

This is obviously fake, you should be able to return anything.
