Today, my boyfriend told me he was going out tonight to celebrate his ex-but-still-friends-girlfriend's birthday at a local club and hopes I wasn't offended that I wasn't invited. I sure am offended; we have the same birthday. FML

I agree, being friends with exs can be alright as long as there are boundaries. However, hen you have to question who he cares about more (as you do in this case), there is obviously a lack of boundaries. At this point, I'd say, "either her or me". If he can't choose his current girlfriend over his ex, he's got too many feelings for her for their friendship to be appropriate, and I'd dump his ass.

While normally I wouldn't go for that type of ultimatium (I had a them or me situation once with a friend - I told them off), this one I think would warrant it. OP - .if he would willingly, knowingly choose the ex over you for birthdays, there is something wrong, and he needs to decide who he actually cares for. IF it isn't you, dump him - because you deserve someone who would care.
