He probably misses his wife and just wants to hold a woman who smells like her, the smell he came to love. Yeah its very odd but don't make a big deal out of it.

29- while I agree op should not make a big deal about it, there is also the point to be made that if he is missing his dead wife so much maybe he shouldn't be dating?

Yeah I thought about that maybe he thought dating again would help him forget or maybe convinced himself he had moved on. I don't there are so many maybes
