Today, my boyfriend asked my father for permission to marry me. My father refused, on the basis that I'm the only person in the house with a job, and if I leave he will have to start looking for work. My boyfriend won't marry me without his permission, and my lazy father won't change his mind. FML

If my father said that then i would move out in a heartbeat. Now if he was incapable of having a job like say he had a disability that doesn't allow him to move then i would reassure him that i could still take care of him, but it sounds like he wants to live his life on the couch while you take care of for him. In that case leave his lazy ass.
