At least your boss believes he can trust you with a big portion of work. Maybe you can get a promotion.
To what? Sounds like it's pretty much just OP and the boss.
The promotion's already done. The raise is what's due.
Better rise to the occasion! Who doesn't like a challenge? More money anyways right?
There are challenges and then there is being used and abused. Guess which category this one falls into?
Hence why the majority of the staff quit. Perhaps you should follow suit.
have you tried talking to him about it?
Duh.
seems like she did. how else would she know the reasoning behind his decisions?
You should just quit.
Why would he rely on one employee that much? If OP was to quit or get injured, the boss would be ******.
Right now I have to live with a boss who abuses her subordinates in a similar way. Go ask a nurse if she thinks that 5 early shifts and 5 night shifts in a row, followed by only 2 free days (that includes the day when you leave the hospital at 6.30 a.m.) and then followed by the next 10 shifts sounds like a healty roster. Or how nice it is to get a call at 7 in the morning, why you are not at work - because this day was supposed to be a free day, but she changed it into a work day while you are at home, without caring to give you a call and tell you. People are collapsing left and right and morale is not exactly excellent. And I came to the conclusion that she is doing this because of two reasons. First, she does not care for anyone except herself. And second, she is too f´ing stupid to realise what she is doing to her staff. That people like you and me are not pea-brained and have at least the slightest capability to to empathize with other people does not necessarily mean, that this is true for every superior too.
Hey he believes in you. You should be motivated by that. Maybe you're just lazy.
I bet we know why they quit, too. Don't let him bully you. Take your full lunch break, leave when you are supposed to leave, don't take work home, don't stress yourself out and be frantic to get things done. Do a full day's work appropriate to the pay you receive, then go home. If he drove the others to quit, he made his own bed. Don't fluff the pillow for him.

Quit repeating yourself; you're just going to be thumbed down every time.

sounds like you need a raise
Tell him you will quit if he doesn't hire anyone else or that you want a huge raise
