Today, I went to the airport to start the amazing 3 week vacation in Costa Rica that I've been saving for and planning for more than a year. They wouldn't let me on the plane because my passport expires in less than 6 months. FML

Why the hell does that matter? I could see if it expired 6 months ago, but what the hell?

so much for planning ahead ....sucks

in a way YDI , you should have checked these things out. but still FYl, as far as I know thats just the rules everywhere?

yep it's true. though the time period varies depending on the country. @ the OP YDI for not checking that out, and FYL for your travel agent not telling you that. If you didn't use a travel agent then YDI even more.

im goijg to costa rica next week too bad i wont cya there!!

That's awful!! FYL, OP. I know I would be pissed.

You deserve it, that's the law everywhere. You'd think someone who's been planning a trip for over a year would have done their research

#37 its not about the reach but its about knowin' when the passport expires

I agree, and part of the research is having all your travel documents in order. the number one thing if traveling abroad is your passport!

Don't call her names if thats the law they should make ur passport expire 6 months earlier...don't give me one and then tell me that's its no good 6 mths before the expiration date

that's just plan awful , better luck next time.

6 months is the rule... and it's splattered all over your boarding pass, itinerary, and booking confirmation.
