Today, I told my parents I no longer believe in the religion they strictly raised me under. They responded by kicking me out of the house. I'm broke, jobless, and the only person that will take me in is my psycho ex-girlfriend who never got over me. FML

I'm all for standing up for one's beliefs, but if you knew your parents were that strict on their own, you should have at least waited until you were financially stable to say anything.

My sister and her husband kicked their son out of the house because he doesn't believe in their religion any more. I took him in for a while until they patched things up. It's sad that people will choose religion over love of family. This is one reason I can't stand religion, it's too divisive. People should have the freedom to believe whatever they want.

You gonna get raped. Good luck not dying from rape.

I am of no religion, believe in no god our greater good. All punter does is cause arguments

Been there... Only my current boyfriend was the one that took me in until my grandparents found out. He was just a friend back then :/

I'm Christian, and I plan to raise my kids that way. But if they decide to believe something else, I won't stop them or kick them out. That's just wrong. Hopefully, I'll even be encouraging for them to keep an open mind.

YDI, It's almost expected by a parent that their child have almost identical beliefs as them. If you knew they were strict on it then you should've known something like this would happen. Don't stand up for your beliefs unless you are ready for the consequences. You've lived several years with them and this religion I am sure you can fake it more.

Lemme guess, Christians? It's sad how many people claim to be Christians and raise they're children strictly but when the children do something the parents don't like it's all punishment and pain and it should be strong discipline, but without violence.

Glad you stood up or yourself! Your parents are just upset because they know you're smarter than them for not believing in their fairy tales :3

I think it is wrong to judge someone simply because they do not practice your religion.
