I'm not sure how you being from Minnesota makes you finishing driving her a foregone conclusion? I would've made her walk, take a cab, call a friend or at the very least have that be the end of the relationship.
Minnesotans have a reputation for being very polite and non-confrontational. I learned that from A Prairie Home Companion.
That's a crime, and you witnessed it. You should make her pay for it, if she refuses take her to court.
It'd be his word against hers
Take her to court? Thats a little far fetched. I honestly would've made her walk I don't give a flying shit if it's -30, if it's warm enough for her to get out and key the car it's warm enough to walk...... bitch.
I know my comment will be voted down, they ALWAYS are. I just finished Title IX training yesterday and the act of damaging your partner's property (any gender, any couple combination) constitutes abuse and a warning sign for the relationship as potentially abusive. Please, I urge you, do a little research on the significance of her action.
#4 is right, it's one of the prominent signs of abusive tendencies and that the behaviour will escalate. It's psychological abuse, a way of hurting the partner without directly physically hurting them. The abuser uses the damage, or even threat of damage, of personal property as a way of trying to exert control over their partner, scare them, and get their way. It can also be an intimidation tactic, a way of saying, "I can do this to the stuff you care about, don't push me or it could happen to you." Even after she damaged OP's car, she still expected him to do her a favour and to be given special treatment. She's narcissistic, entitled, manipulative, and won't control her anger. All signs of an abuser. She committed this act knowing it would hurt him. It doesn't matter how angry you are, partners do not deliberately commit actions for the sole purpose of hurting the other. OP, this relationship isn't healthy, you need to get out before it gets worse.
Dump her, if you haven't and you should have made her walk. There is no reason for her to key your car, no matter the argument.
you should've let that bitch walk. let her walk some discipline into her empty brain.
I would've drove her to the police station file a report and let them deal with her. Like an earlier comment said I would really think about the relationship and find a safe way to get out and move on. :
Yeah...no OP, you really should have kicked her ass out of the car and demand she pay the damages that is completely ridiculous
This has nothing to do with being Minnesotan. That's just being a wimp.
You should have kicked her in the gash
