Today, I got my long hair cut in a short pixie cut. When my five year old daughter saw me she laughed and proclaimed 'You look just like a man!'. That afternoon I got a concerned call from the school. My daughter has told everyone 'mummy has gone away, I now have two daddies!' FML

Today, I took my daughter to get the expensive pixie cut she’s been "dying" for. As soon as we got home, my husband burst into hysterical laughter and pointed out that she looks exactly like he did in high school. Now she’s sobbing and begging for either a wig or even more expensive extensions. FML

Today, I got my hair cut short, as it hasn’t been cut in well over a year and I was getting sick of dealing with it. I told the hairdresser I would probably look like a boy but she said it would look cute, and that she’d make sure it looks feminine. I loved how it came out, until the kid at CVS asked, “Can I help you sir?” FML

Today, one of my dad's work friends came over. As he was leaving, he complimented my dad on having three "strapping young boys." I informed him that I'm a girl, and I have a hormone imbalance that causes me to have a lot of hair and a deep voice. I guess my dress didn't give him a clue. FML

Is it me or is that just none of the school's damn business? Okay, it's an epic misunderstanding, but the school has absolutely no right to be calling you at home imo, that's private stuff, right? :/

I can imagine the school wanting to double check what's going on from a safeguarding position. Working with children I can recall many strange things a child has told me about their family. One memorable example being that they were really a mermaid and went to sleep at night in the bathroom sink. Understanding any large change like this could help the school provide support or not accidentally contradict what's being said at home. Plus changes in parental status could lead to custody changes. The school wouldn't want to send the child home with the wrong person.

My aunt shaved her head when I was little and I was almost afraid to go near her. Maybe you should have made it more gradual somehow? That might have helped. :/ Then again, maybe not, lol.

haha, thats cute. people say it's none of the school's business but usually big changes at home can affect school as well (eg. no longer having a mom and having two dads instead, like here!)...so i'm guessing they would be a little shocked her saying that and checking everything was ok :P aww, i miss being a kid. you can get away with saying so much embarrassing and awkward things ^_^
