Same thing is happening to me currently. Really sucks, OP.
No financial aid of any sort? No federal loans?? :
If it's your first degree a pell grant should be available. Otherwise since you are working a full time job , granted one you seem to dislike, then you should be able to responsibly save a portion of your income each month to go towards your goal of improving your life. Its called you do what you have to do in order to get where you want to get. As someone who took out loans as a last resort while working myself through college with part time jobs I don't really understand why you are so eager to take out fin aid loans when you have the means to save for your education and just delay it a little while. Also, in case this is your first rodeo with college ... Community colleges or tech colleges offer courses that usually transfer to 4yr universities at sometimes a 1/4 of the cost compared to that Univ. Check with the Univ you want to get your main degeree from to make sure and them work with an advisor at the comm college telling them exactly what your goals are. Just keep your goals OP. Save and take a comm college course one at a time if you have to just don't give up on your dream!
There's also nothing saying you have to take a full load! Without the restrictions placed on you by financial aid you are actually able to take less classes without needing some stupid excuse/reason as to why you're not taking a full load. Look for grants... Take a couple classes if you can. Don't do what most of my generation has done and take out loans! So many aren't able to pay them off no matter how hard they work.
Sounds to me like mommy and daddy make a lot of money but not enough to pay for your education! What did you do wrong growing up?
Your parents don't necessarily have to earn " a lot of money" to be considered over income. I was in this boat. My parents weren't poor, but they sure couldn't afford to put me through school. BTW, OP ... as someone who did it entirely through student loans- I would NOT recommend it. Save your money. Work and pay off school while you go. IDK what you're looking to major in but perhaps a 2 yr technical school or apprenticeship would be available to you. 4+ years of college isn't the only way to get things done. Hopefully you can get this all sorted out. Don't let one setback crush your dream of bettering yourself.
*cough cough* trade school *cough cough*
I received an amazing education that was worth every penny. I literally worked 5 rotating jobs, and I paid for everything as I went along. I took out 1 $7500 loan my last semester, and that was probably my most regretted mistake in my life. I paid $76 a month until I was 33, for that $7500. That was 16-20 years ago. The interest rates now are way higher, and as far as I can tell most Millenials don't have the slightest clue as to how much those loans really cost in the end, and what a huge PITA it is to have that stone around your neck. Take it as a gift. Figure out how to do it real time, even if it takes longer. You will miss it when it is over (if you choose well, and find something you are passionate about learning.) Community colleges are great, and really give you some time to work out the more expensive part for the second half. By then, with diligence you might be able to EARN a grant or scholarship! When you get out you will be free...no loans...go travel, try new things that your friends with $500 a month in loans can't afford. It totally sucks you are finding this out now (beginning of semester) rather than before you started...I totally get that frustration. Life is terribly inconvenient at times. **** it! Trust that you are getting the right info, at the right time...for a reason you won't appreciate until 20 years from now when some kid on FML reminds you of your college life ;).
Not everyone: 1: Meets the criteria to join 2: Has the mindset needed to withstand the stress of military duty 3: Has a personality that should be placed in a military position 4: Considers the actions taken during military duty worth the change in circumstance Get so tired of people saying "join the military" as the solution to so many problems. For one because, whether you approve of them or not, the military is a VERY high stress occupation all around. For two because, maybe the fact that a big part of our military comes from people in financial need says some not-very-good things about our country.
My sister tried that got injured during basic training is now physically disabled for life and on so many different pain medications she has memory problems and can't take any college courses because she can't keep up with the curriculum.
I'm in the same boat. But why is this under 'Intimacy'?
