Today, I decided to confess my romantic attraction to my best friend of four years after them telling me a week ago that they wanted to 'give the whole dating thing a try' with me. They laughed in my face, before telling me that they were joking and hoped I was too. I wasn't. FML.

Why do you keep saying they... So you told two people you love them and want to be in a relationship with both of them? Or you just aren't specifying the gender which is this case makes this very confusing to read.
