To all the people saying for OP to fix up his house, uh...have you priced house renovations lately? Shingles, doors, windows, even paint, it all costs MONEY. And in case you aren't aware, that's something that isn't easily obtained and held onto these days thanks to these little things called BILLS and TAXES. Not everyone can afford to have their house look like one from the cover of a magazine or a movie. The homeless man was trespassing and should be arrested. Although, maybe he did that on purpose so he WOULD get arrested, where our tax dollars would pay for him to have free food, a free bed, and a roof over his head.
but, I don't assume a house is abandoned if the lawn is maintained... I am a homeowner and I know how expensive it is. we have to save up to fix ANYTHING. But you can make your house look not abandoned by making sure nothing is growing in your gutters, there aren't too many weeds, and the lawn isn't producing seeds
That's a sign to clean. YDI

Hey, while he's there have him work for his stay- he can live there and you don't have to do laundry or dishes! It's a win-win situation!
You know your house is messy when a hobo believes that theres no way someone would live in it.
