Today, my girlfriend and I got busted by the cops having sex in a dark parking lot near the beach. As if that wasn't bad enough, as I was trying to talk my way out of a ticket, one of the cops peeks into the car window and I hear my girlfriend awkwardly giggle and say, "Hi daddy." FML

it is "my girlfriend and me" because it falls in the predicit of the sentence. if it were the subject of the sentence the you would say "my girlfriend and I."

ALSO correct: " a police officer caught my girlfriend and me having sex" notice how the subject of the sentence changes from my gf and me to the police officer. if you're an idiot, don't try to correct someone with half a grammar rule you learned in elementary school that you haven't properly applied since.
