Things we shoulda talked about

Today, I told my fiancé that my parents and sister would need to move into our house once we got married. He got really mad and started a huge fight. He doesn't understand that once we get married, we'll be family, and in my culture, family sticks together no matter what. FML

I'm sorry, but no. If you can't live your own life, stay single living with your family.

And what about his culture? Or does your culture override everyone else's?

Though I understand respecting each others' cultural heritage there are some lines people just aren't willing to cross. The point of taking your relationship to the level of being married is to start your own family, even if that family is just the two of you. Compromise and live close by. Although if your fiancé feels less like he's seeing family and more like his privacy with his wife is being interrupted (or even invaded) he'll probably leave, so when you and he are together the rest of your family shouldn't always be there too.

Definitely something you should've talked about with him before you even considered engagement, even if you and him are from the same cultural background (which seems unlikely based on how this was written), because not everybody follows cultural customs to a tee.

In-laws are the second biggest reason for divorce. Number one is money problems. Please find someone who wants all your people under one roof, and let this normal guy go.
