Today, I discovered the reason my 12-year-old brother has been anxious and afraid of cops for the last 6 months. My crazy mother convinced him that porn is illegal and comes with a death penalty. She did the same thing to me when I was his age. FML

Today, I found out that while I was at college, my brother downloaded three terabytes of porn on my laptop and blamed it on me. My parents believed him. FML

Today, my parents were arguing about their relationship. My mom, who is very Christian, yells at my dad for watching porn. My dad responds, "Of course I watch porn, I've told you! I have shown you!" He is also the one who stressed to me at a very young age that porn is immoral. FML

I would just explain to your brother that's not the case. No reason he should be terrified of a natural curiosity that a large majority of people have also been curious about.

Your mom is really awful. There are better ways to try to discourage your underage kids from looking at **** than scaring them to death. BTW, you might want to let your brother know that your mom pulled this ish on you when you were a kid.

Yeah I'd tell your brother your mom pulled this on you as well as you're not going to get in trouble. Maybe with mom but not the law lol. Make sure you also tell him you don't care what he's doing as its normal but tell him what certain **** will get him in trouble and to stay far away from it.

wow, is that not a form of really bad parenting or even 'abuse' ( not sure if the term applies but I think that telling your child terrifying lies like that deliberately about something very natural and normal is emotionally scarring and damaging.
