Not going out

By not drunk - This FML is from back in 2014 but it's good stuff - Brazil - Santa Maria

Today, I've been one year sober. My health has improved a lot, unlike my social life, which has died a horrible, lonely death. FML

Today, after two years of chronic usage, I’m 26 days sober off weed. About 2 months off nicotine. One year off psychedelics. But I’m more bored, lonely, sad, and frustrated than ever. Connections scares me as much as I crave them, and what connections I do make barely scratch the surface. I'm doing my best but it feels the worst. FML

Just goes to show that those people weren't really your friends. There are so many other things in life to occupy your time..... You don't need a type of drug to have a good time.

Just celebrating 24 years. Have you checked out meetings? Like went every night and hung out with people there? My best and longest friends I've met there

hang in there op! congrats on your one year *hugs*

Why go from alcoholic to zero alchohol? Can't you just have a couple drinks with your friends every now and then? Of course assuming your friends aren't the type that have to get shitfaced every time they drink

I'm sure you can find friends who are living a similar lifestyle! Straight edge mate!

Who says you gotta drink to have a social life!

Well congrats...you'll find some new replacements...maybe host an event or two...

The thing is, because you've spent a lot of your time drunk with these friends that, now you're sober, you'll find you have nothing in common with them anymore. Also, you'll need to relearn certain social behaviours and get to know yourself now that the substances have left your system... It sounds daunting but it really will be the most exciting experience you'll ever have. I raise a glass of OJ to the most incredible time of your life, well done!

Or you could have continued going out and not drinking alcohol...

Congratulations. Give yourself more time to adjust to your new lifestyle, your social life will pick back up.
