Today, my family asked where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner. They shot down my every suggestion and decided on sushi. I'm allergic, so the only thing I could eat was a veggie appetizer. Dad said I need to "expand my palate." FML

Today, my boyfriend told me he was taking me out to eat to his favorite restaurant. He said I could order whatever I wanted and he'd pay for it. He took me to Red Lobster, knowing full well that I'm allergic to seafood. FML

Today, my family took me to a steak house. I went for an eight minute bathroom break, coming back to an empty table. They ordered dessert, and left me the bill. I'm a vegetarian, and it's my birthday. FML

Today, I begged my parents not to take me to a restaurant for my birthday, but sure enough, they took me to one, along with my siblings, aunts, uncles, you name it. Ordering with them is a nightmare, so after a whole half-hour the waiter still hadn’t gotten everyone’s complicated orders written down. FML

Today, I was excited to go to a Japanese restaurant for my birthday. When the chef started doing tricks however, my spoiled brat of a sister started screaming and crying in terror. My parents insisted we leave and go to McDonald's because she was upset. She's 11. FML

Today, it was my birthday. My only birthday present was a cake that my dad bought from Walmart. Well, it sure looked tasty. The only problem: it had nuts on it. Guess what I'm highly allergic too? At least my dad told me he'd "tell me how it tastes." FML

Today, my family and I went to Olive Garden. Due to my autism, I sometimes have a nervous tic, which presented itself while I was looking at the menu. I would have appreciated it if my mom hadn't then screamed at me to stop in front of the entire restaurant. FML

Allergic to all fish? Ok. Allergic to all fish AND shellfish AND chicken AND beef (because I've never seen a sushi place that didn't also have a kitchen for chicken/beef dishes as well) AND salad AND soup? I'm with your dad here. Even if you're allergic to all fish (which is a new one to me), you could have had Teppanyaki, tempura, Katsu, teriyaki...

Unless, of course, it really was JUST a sushi restaurant, where all they make is sushi. OP may have also been super allergic, and there's too much cross contamination to eat safely.

I'd have pointed out to dad by saying "Well dad, if I expand my palate by eating sushi, I'll die. Or did you forget that?" And then to the rest of your family, remind them it is YOUR birthday. They asked where YOU wanted to go and they definitely shouldve respected that.
