Good for you! You couldn't have known, and we do need to speak up more for that sort of thing because it's too often dismissed and then interpreted by the speaker to be alright, and thus by society to be considered acceptable.
You people are so disgusting. There is a difference between a noun and a proper noun. People are not referred to as "that." Personal pronouns were invented in order to distinguish a HUMAN BEING from an OBJECT. Being referred to as an OBJECT is dehumanizing and objectifying. Perhaps I have have too much self-esteem, but that does not sound complimentary to me. And none of you can say you have never thought someone was talking to you when they were not. None of you.
