Putting them in a home or in your home is one thing. The despise to your parents as it comes from your words is the sad part. If you put them in a home to get rid of them, then yes, something is very wrong. If you put them in a home so them can get the treatment they need and develop social life, that a whole different story.
If you had met my dad, there’s dozens of reasons to dump some people in a home, whether it was for needs of caretaking or other reasons. By the end of the first month, I’m sure you would be in jail for homicide. I pity anyone who has to suffer that bastard. I was forced to for a short time, and it halfway destroyed my life. I went no contact with him and many others in my family after that. Some people have the biggest pieces of shit for parents, and would dump them into a lime quarry if they could. Mine? A running nuclear reactor.
I loved my mother to death, but she was not allowed into my home where she would intentionally ruin my marriage that lasted more than twice all 3 of hers together. I get it OP, sometimes you can't help them because it could ruin your family (spouse and kids). There are some however that believe you owe them a space in your house. Don't let their preconceived notions ruin your family too.
