YDI for being naive like a child.
You fail at being a good samaritan
I would've kept the money and tossed the rest of the wallet out. Sorry. It's a bad economy and nice guys finish last.
I commend you for your honesty #18. We would all like to say "oh I'd return it without expecting anything" but I'm pretty sure if I found it and I was having a bad day, I might keep a little of the money. Just being honest. You never really know what you will do until you are put in a specific situation.
I would morally not be able to it would ******* eat me alive
All of you, shut the hell up. He is a honest man !!! FYL OP.
What you did was great indeed, seems like today's society lacks honest people unfortunately. And he's a total wanker for not even thanking you properly. However, and I'm sorry about what I'm gonna say, I'm tempted to click YDI for expecting a reward. Being kind is something you should do naturally without expecting anything in return. :-D Gratitude and and thankfulness usually are the best rewards one can get.
He didn't get either of those at all. He barely even got a thank you.
hey should have at least reimbersed the op for the gas it took to get to his house but op ydi for expecting anything
#40 : I know, that was my point, and the reason why I didn't click YDI. :-D You shouldn't hope for a reward in return for good deeds, however saying thanks or expressing gratitude is the least you can f*cking do when this happens. The lost-wallet bloke is a complete tosser. OP could have kept the wallet but he didn't, and he didn't have to drive all the way to that guy's house either, but still did. I hate it when pple are so unappreciative.
and that is why you keep the money, nobody will give u a reward, so u might aswell save the gas for the ride and keep the cash....

Drug money. But you don't do something for the reward, you do it because you feel it's right. YDI.
Holy crap entitled much? Instead of doing something for a reward, why don't you do it because it's the right thing to do? And how is he supposed to know that you drove for 40 minutes? What I would've done is turn it in to the police, or if I found it in the store, turned it in to the store manager, rather than driving for 40 minutes and then expecting a reward for not stealing it. It's ridiculous how people expect to be rewarded for not doing the wrong thing. Plus, how do you know you returned it to the right person? It had an address written inside? That could've been the address of a friend's house, or a house someone needed to make a delivery to. Maybe you just gave the wallet to a stranger who decided to pretend it was his to keep the money.
