my dad (a cop) said look in the wallet. take the money. and put it back where you found it. acts of kindness don't work these days. cuz nobody would return your money
if you drop it in the mailbox the postal system will often take care of finding the person. next time take the money out, drop it in the mailbox with a note saying that you didn't want the money to get stolen and include your phone#. then they can arrange to get the money, and drive 40 mins out of their way - and if they don't, want to drive 1.5 hrs for $300 (which they may) than you get to pocket it in good conscience.
you deserved it for expecting a reward.
why would u go in peak hour?
that guy should have at least been a little more enthusiastic
broo you shouldn't need a reward other then feelin goods after doing a good deed that's karma for expecting a reward
I hate that all these ppl are saying "that's what u get for expecting a reward". what the hell? who doesn't secretly hope someone will be so grateful that they'll reward you for your honesty and time!?! You did a really great thing returning the wallet and you should be proud of that.

Drug money. But you don't do something for the reward, you do it because you feel it's right. YDI.
Holy crap entitled much? Instead of doing something for a reward, why don't you do it because it's the right thing to do? And how is he supposed to know that you drove for 40 minutes? What I would've done is turn it in to the police, or if I found it in the store, turned it in to the store manager, rather than driving for 40 minutes and then expecting a reward for not stealing it. It's ridiculous how people expect to be rewarded for not doing the wrong thing. Plus, how do you know you returned it to the right person? It had an address written inside? That could've been the address of a friend's house, or a house someone needed to make a delivery to. Maybe you just gave the wallet to a stranger who decided to pretend it was his to keep the money.
