Today, my family and I went to the coast. Our dog was off the leash because we were the only people around. He was delighted to find a dead seal carcass and roll around in its remains. We then had a 3 hour drive home. FML

Today, after frolicking in some long grass near a lake, my dog got back in the car smelling strongly of poop. Upon further investigation, I discovered that a sewer had overflowed in the area. My dog rolled around in human faeces. FML

Today, I thought it would be nice to take my obese dog for a walk, since she hasn't had one in a long time. She was doing great, until we were about a mile from our house. She plopped down on the ground and wouldn't move. Nobody was home so I had to carry her all the way back to our house. FML

Today, I was in the car for 8 hours driving home from North Carolina with my family. We brought my dog along and I was petting her for most of the ride. I thought she fell asleep, so I continued to play with her. She never woke up. I played with a dead dog for almost an hour and a half. FML

Today, after pulling an all-nighter, I fell asleep at the beach. My friends took the opportunity to bury me in the sand, place food all around me, and wait for a flock of hungry seagulls to attack me. To top it off, they taped it all. FML

Today, I was driving home with my girlfriend. As we turned onto our block, she shrieked that our dog was running down the street and into traffic. I jumped out of the moving car and chased him for about a mile, only to give up, go home, and find out it wasn't our dog. FML

Today, I went on a relaxing nature hike to de-stress. I got lost for hours, encountered a bear, and had to play dead, only for the bear to steal my sandwich then sit there for hours before finally leaving. FML

Today, I took my dog to the park. It had recently rained, and he started rolling in something unidentifiable. When I got home, I discovered it was a mixture of mud and who knows what else. Now my house smells like a swamp. FML

2: Freshly-dead seal would have been the preferred option actually, once you get over the whole "horror of nature" response. The smell of fresh blood, while still gross, has got to be better than the stench of a rotting carcass.

I kind of agree with 9. Though I'd rather watch my pup frolic free, it would be much more difficult to find and dispose of his poo if he's unleashed. And if there's one thing worse for future beachgoers than finding a rotting seal carcass, it's finding a sandy surprise between your toes while playing on the beach. ICK!

I knew of a couple whose rottweiller ran off leash in the woods at Fort Bragg, NC. It ran behind some barracks and rolled in a dead human body. The person was later Identified as a kidnapped/murdered woman. Her BF lived in the barracks she was dumped behind. She worked at the local cinema in the ticket booth.
