People of Walmart

By drano - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, at work as a cashier, a guy came up with a cart full of stuff and it took me 10 minutes to ring it all up. When I told him his total, he felt his pockets, said, "Oh shit, I forgot my wallet!" and walked off. He left about 15 bags worth of things for me to put back. FML

this is not an fml it's a mlia, i've worked in a grocery store for 4 years and have personally had to do the exact same thing at least 30-40 times

I feel your pain. People always do that to me. I never have to put it back though. Baggers always have to do it.

Look on the bright side, atleast you still get the credit.

At least you have a ******* job, now work for your money and be glad. I've been laid off for months and can't find shit.

LOL @ #44!!! That made me laugh. That dick probably did that on a dare of some sort or was trying to make fun of you or something.. Prolly went off laughing away like a hyena hi-fiving his friends.. FYL.

I have worked in retail my entire life and I would never consider posting an FML like this. Sure, it's rather annoying but, damn. We have jobs and for that we are lucky. Besides, fifteen bags of groceries wouldn't even take that long to put back on the shelf. So be thankful you have a job and actually work for what they are paying you.

I agree with #2, everyone should work in retail or the service industry. it helps you see others' point if perspective and make you humble.

1. This is fake. I know because I am a part-time cashier. But assuming it was real, read the points below. 2. It does not take 15 minutes to put an order through. the longest is two to three minutes. and that's with TWO cart fulls. if it's taking you ten minutes, you should definately be looking for a new job. Even when I was new it didn't take that long. 3. Putting away unwanted items is part of your job, they tell you that at orientation. And by the way, doesn't take long to do. If you can't tolerate that, again, looking for a new job is a good idea. Good luck finding one in this economy. which brings me to my next point: 4. Be thankful you have a job with all you bitching. When you work in customer service, you shouldn't bring those negative feelings with you because customers are assholes anyway, it should be expected. If this happens once in a four hour shift, I'm luck. Usually happens more though.

1. I'm also a cashier and yes I agree that it doesn't take that long but... the writer never said they worked at a grocery store it could be clothing. in that case you have to find the tags and scan them. It takes a little longer then sliding things across a scanner. 2. Putting away unwanted items isn't part of everyones job. At my store, its a baggers job. not mine. 3. I totally agree with the last statement.

Since we are talking about 15bags worth of stuff people are making the reasonable assumption that it is a grocery store and not a retail store.

yes but for a full cart, only 15 bags is a little bit too small for groceries unless they were overflowing with items 15 isn't enough.

If i had been that guy, I would have asked for the things to be set aside so I could go get my wallet and return with it half an hour or so later. Of course if anything needed to be kept chilled or frozen, those things would have to be reshelved.

Why not just store the entire cart in a freezer? From what I've seen, any freezer in a grocery store (or even a convenience store) is usually big enough to hold at least three. That is, if it's walk-in, of course.
