Today, out of my whole class, I received no awards. All my teachers thought that I would get plenty from the others. Now people think I'm stupid. I have a 3.66 GPA and they won't believe me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I found out that our neighbors told almost everyone on our street that I was mentally handicapped. All this time I wasn't sure why they would speak slowly and loudly at me. Now they won't believe me when I tell them I'm a 4.0 GPA student. FML
Today, after finally applying myself and busting my butt all semester, I found out the school is accusing me of cheating because they couldn't believe I could have gotten near-perfect grades considering my grade history. If this is how society rewards academic turnarounds, why do I even bother? FML
Today, I found out that, despite my above average performance in school, I was right in the middle of my class ranking at graduation. My school stated that your respect for others would affect your ranking, but the fact that nearly all of the people who placed above me were gigantic pricks says otherwise. FML
Today, I was told that when I was in middle school and thought I was considered class clown for either making jokes or acting stupid, people thought I actually was stupid and/or mentally challenged. FML
Today, as I went into my calculus class, the teacher announced that someone had received a negative grade on the test we were getting back. I laughed and said, "Which f*cker managed to get a negative?" Turns out I'm the dumbass. FML
Today, I got my grades back. They were all 98's and 99's with also a 104 (extra-credit). I got refused from entering an honors club, because it's "impossible to get above a hundred in a math class". I even got investigated for cheating. FML
Today, after a conference with my teacher who had previously accused me of not doing my homework, she finally discovered she'd been losing it all this time. I've been getting straight Fs for a month. FML
Today, I received the honorary title of "Student of the Month," because I'm the only quiet kid during class. Truth is, I just have no friends. I was given an award for being socially awkward. FML
Today, I went to attend my summer school class again after being out sick for a week. When I said "Here" during roll call, everyone started cheering and clapping. Apparently, my professor has been badmouthing me while I've been absent for pretending to be sick. I'm sure my grade will be fantastic. FML
Today, the grades for one of my courses were released. The class average was higher than that which the department allowed, so the professor had to scale everyone's marks down to meet the policy. I ended up failing because my class was too smart. FML

don't let others get to you. you know you have good grades and do well, that's all that should matter. If you do start to get annoyed, show them your report card, then that should clear everything up!

Don't worry about it! Your grade is yours, you don't require rewards to tell you you're hard working. It sucks to not be recognized, and sadly that may be for the rest of your life in any career! If they're really concerned, (Or if you're really concerned to defend yourself) show them your report!

My high school actually ran on an 11.0 scale. I had no idea most other places used a 4.0 scale until I started applying for colleges.

I've been there, getting good grades across the board (apart from PE of course) and somehow managing to fly under the radar. You don't need awards though, all this hard work will pay off later. Plus it's good training for adult life when you don't get a pat on the back every time you put a bit of effort in, being self-motivated is another good skill to add to what you already have.

So let me get this straight - they all thought someone else would give you one, so they didn't? Is this part of this whole 'don't celebrate a good performance so as not to hurt the feelings of the poor performers' rhetoric? Must have been thought up by the same idiots who decided that every kid deserves a trophy just for showing up. Those poor kids are in for a big shock when they enter the real world as adults.

It cuts both ways. You get the entitled brats, sure, but you also get the more aware kids seeing that everyone gets a reward regardless of whether they deserve it or not, who end up being unable to tell if praise is genuine or BS.

Hey, I really enjoyed those as a kid! All I had to do was not maim anyone and I got a trophy! All kidding aside, this really is an issue. When I was in primary school, the only people who got awards were problem children and they were all things like "most improved", not "best score". It was always a disappointment when a peer got a reward for going from an F to an E or some such when everyone else worked for their A's and B's.
